Dude seriously? This is not even close to the Darko situation. And he'll get another contract, laying it on a bit thick huh.

Anyone that gives him another contract is a fool, the dude has shot 37.5% or lower in every season of his career.
Currently at 26% FG & 0% 3PT in New Orleans so far.

Not an NBA player.

This is always attached to Stanley:

Bill Simmons of The Ringer on The Lowe Post podcast:

I know the Pistons passed on it. Whatever it was eight, nine, 10. It was Pistons passed. They offered the same thing. They wouldn’t even talk about it, because they wanted to take Stanley Johnson.

The ninth pick was Charlotte. Jordan couldn’t figure it out in time and finally didn’t do it, so they passed on those four picks, one of which would have been Jaylen Brown. Another one would have been Rozier.

And then the 10th pick, they called Riley, and Riley just laughed and hung up on them. Riley was like, “No, I’m taking Justise Winslow. I’ll talk to you guys later.”

At some point we need to acknowledge that certain mistakes have been beaten into the ground to the point where discussing them more isn’t productive.

We have plenty of screwups that haven’t reached this point yet without digging this one up.

With all the firsts the Celtics had I don’t see any reason a Brooklyn pick (Brown) would have been on offer. Still a terrible decision, but I felt that needs to be said.

I wouldnt be surprised if he wasn't. I was sooo happy we drafted him but he is a huge bust. Terrible rookie season and got worse every year after.

One top 10 bust for another. Still extremely disappointed to see how SJ turned out for us.

Let's just hope that Maker can add some value to the team.

At worst, Stanley signs a minimum with the Spurs imo. He has a future in this league. Maybe not as a starter but we got a guy like GR3 on our roster so there’s that.

Someone will sign him for the minimum next year. Little doubt about that in my opinion.

hes not a good offensive player at all but he stays in front his man, hes strong, and i havent heard a lot about him being a problem off the court. hes gonna be a guy who gets one or two year deals for the rest of his career.

EDIT
however long his career may be, i should add.

Stanley's still 22. At worst I think he'll be a late 20s reclamation project. He probably needs to go play overseas for a few years and really work on his game. If he ever gets a functional 3pt shot he'll be a decent 3&d guy in the league.

I believe I read that they're playing him some at the point in New Orleans. I always wanted to try that. He and Jrue in the back court could be interesting. Stanley's biggest issue is that he doesn't accept he's not a super star - if he accepted he's a role player he could have a long career as a starter - but he should be taking 4-5 shots a game whole focusing on defense and accepting being the 4-5 option on the floor with the starters. I also think he could be a really good rebounder but never really focused on doing that here as that is seemingly the sole domain of Drummond, by design. He should strive for 8-8-4 line while playing his best defense at SF.

If he was willing to just play defense, rebound, and get the occasional fastbreak bucket, he would still be on the team. I mean, we are starting Bruce Brown for the exact reason. The guy just sells out on defense and stays in his lane on offense.

Stanley's biggest issue is that he's shot 37/29% into his 4th NBA season.

You need 2-way wings, 2-way shooting bigs, and you can't allow low iq players on the court. Assist/turnover ratio is crucial. Shooting point guards are icing on the cake IF they are plus defenders.

I'm loving ThonThon so far. Clearly the game-winner helped, but i'm loving the energy. We desperately needed a 3rd big, and I don't even care that he's just jacking up 3's at every opportunity....that's how 90% of the game is played now anyways. This team needed a crowd favorite post-Boban, and he has all those qualities.

I swear I saw a stat earlier this season that Stanley was accountable for 25% of the Pistons turnovers? Can anyone back me up on this? I'm finally coming to terms that he is not the next Jimmy Butler. At least not here.

The thing that bugs me is that people talk like Justise Winslow was the one who got away. Let's be honest...we would still be a middling treadmill team if we had drafted Winslow, and we would probably want his ass out of town by now regardless.

Guys I would take over Winslow from the same 2015 draft:
Miles Turner
Devon Booker
Kelly Oubre
Bobby Portis
Montrezl Harrell
Darun Hilliard

...alright, that last one was a joke but seriously, why is Winslows name brought up on this board every other thread?

That was a short lived experiment. He played 90 seconds against the Lakers and managed to miss a pair of free throws and turn the ball over twice before getting benched for the rest of the game. Tonight against the Suns he hasn't gotten off the bench. Seems like his perfect role on a team is bench warmer. I wish him the best in China next year.
