Starting to pick up several in-state commitments for 2020 to add to the 4 good linemen they already had. Cole Dakovich and Chimere Dike.

Mickey Stalks Mertz: Season 6, Episode 15 "Culver's"

Interesting. Could be anything from not being handed the job to fans blaming him getting to him to being told he's benched.

If they start Mertz I will make sure to not miss a minute of any game next year. Good riddance, I won't miss Hornibrook.

Could be Mertz, could just be a combo of "Coan was good enough and eventually it'll be Mertz," could be somewhat injury related where UW doesn't think he should keep playing but he wants to, could be a grad transfer coming back in. Just blindly speculating but yeah he obviously doesn't have a clear path to the job anymore.

I'm sure there are so many top programs out there who will be glad to have an "above-average" QB like Hornibrook.

Excellent joke. Ya got me!

Of course he’s transferring to a lower tier.

No power 5 team is going to want a low ceiling 1 year stopgap and he doesn’t fit 90% of schemes. But he’s probably a better QB than whatever the hell Illinois and similar programs is throwing out there if he’s fully healthy.

I can't imagine being a high-profile college football player that wasn't good enough for the NFL, but had concussion issues. No reason to risk your life on the game.

I hope he recovers fully from that concussion, because it would be awful if he suffered lifelong consequences from playing the sport. Even as much as I thought he was a big disappointment as a QB, I'll never root for anyone to deal with that kind of damage.

Get well soon, Hornibrook.

I was expecting that he wouldn't be back. But I really figured it would be due to concussions + the writing on the wall with either/both of Coan and Mertz.

I was not expecting him to try to transfer and play elsewhere. That is...really something. That is one decision that you can make.

I agree with HR, though - wish him the best in health and play.

Should try to avoid concussions, interception, and banging teammate's girlfriends at next stop.

For all we know, he will “try” to play at some lower conference/solid academic school closer to home or something and get his grad school paid for.
