Traditional Phoenix Suns fan base(s) outside AZ

Post#1 » by oligo » Fri Mar 1, 2019 7:46 pm

Has the Phoenix Suns organization established any traditional fan bases outside AZ or maybe even outside US?

A few examples:
- the Miami Heat has a huge fanbase on the Philippines because its a homeland of their coach Erik Spoelstra. They ship more merchandise to Philippines than they sell in Florida (hard to believe, but its true).
- the Houston Rockets are extremely popular in China because its a homeland of their ex-player Yao Ming.

What about Phoenix Suns?

Wonder if the Kings would be interested in a Booker-Buddy swap. Get a chokehold on that giant Bahamian market.

But without Booker, we lose the Jonas Brothers fanbase. :D

New Zealand checking in. There's probably 5 of us here.

I'd say double that in Australia :)

We're definitely in double figures on this board for Australian fans. I know about another dozen who don't post here, too.

Yeah, there still might be poll results on the community thread (which may be back as far as 10 pages or more) for where people are located. A sizable percentage was from Australia iirc....and probably as many outside of Phx but in the states as are in Phx. There are fans from this board from all over the world.

Mathias was in Brazil but moved to Boston to become a Celtics fan and kennydorglas in in Brazil I think but I believe lost some or all of his fandom when we passed on Doncic (he had been pulling for Isaac the previous year too). Maybe just got fed up with McD's moves though and will be back.

I was doing charity work in the Philippines about 6-7 years ago. Everywhere I went, there were kids who were Suns fans, especially Steve Nash fans--even in the most remote villages.

By the way, pretty much everyone here who likes basketball is just a Manu fan, so they supported the spurs. I doubt most of those people watch a Spurs game anymore.

Anyone else who didn't root for the Spurs are either on the Lebron bandwagon, Lakers bandwagon or the Warriors, obviously.

Looking at ducler's game thread post, he tags a Suns France twitter account with over 10K followers.
