Dont we save more money if he is cut b4 march ××??

You are probably right. Thought I seen somewhere that after June 1st, the cap effect would be less severe. Not sure on the bonuses though. He needs to be cut either way.

This explains it so much better

No chance he is cut march.

Most likely not cut or cut June 2nd

This is somewhat pedantic, I admit, but they'll likely announce his release before the new league year begins but designate him as a post-June 1 cut. The reason for that is that Perry is due a roster bonus of about $5M if he's still on the roster after March 14. But releasing him before March 15 and designating him a post June 1 cut, they get the benefit of wiping that roster bonus off the books, but won't be able to wipe the rest of his salary off of their cap sheet until after June 1. That latter point is less consequential because his release on its own would pay for our draft class, which we won't have to actually put pen-to-paper on until after June 1 because we'll own their rights, anyway. But it helps in that it spreads the rest of his cap hit over two years instead of it escalating onto our 2019 cap.

In doing so, we can designate the rest of our cap space to pursuing FAs or re-signing our own guys without worrying about the ~$10M we need to set aside for our draft class. And it gives Perry the chance to go out and sign a FA deal, sooner.

I am in the park of cut now and not have to worry about it at all going forward. He sucks, why break the cap hit up over two years when you can do it this year and not worry about the next two years. Especially when you still save 3.3 mil this year. It'd be one thing if he was reliable, but he never plays.

I guess we'll see soon enough if that's true. Is it Mar 13th when the signings can start?

Trey Flowers, Donte Fowler Jr and Barr would be my guesses if they're planning on going balls to the wall for the front 7

I think Fowler Jr. would make a ton of sense seeing as how they had interest at the trade deadline last year. I'd LOVE to add Za'Darius Smith or Preston Smith if they hit the market.

Considering his injury history, what kind of contract might Perry find outside the Packers?

Complete guess but 2 years, $8 million? 3/$15 million on a high end?

That sounds reasonable to me. Either that or a short contract that's performance incentive loaded ? He's a decent player IF he is healthy enough to play

Additional conditions requested by DavidDunn were to put Red in to the Packers color scheme as part of the deal. Sources say.

If we bring him back. He should only play 3rd down or very limited to maximize his production as much as possible. He just doesnt have it anymore to be playing most plays
