How many points could u score in an NBA game?

Why would anybody pass me the ball, lol.

I'm trying to imagine this scenario, where I'm in the stands and I just strip off my normal clothes to reveal a Pelicans jersey beneath it superman style and sub myself in Jrue Holiday watching me jog onto the court like who is this dude?

First defensive possession I lose my man, try to foul as he blows past me, go too hard, and get an flagrant foul. Security removes me from the game.

To put this question in another perspective. Think of a champion HS basketball team. A team that wins the national finals. Now, ask yourself, if a 4th grader were to play on the other team, how many points do you think he would score against the HS team?
Sure, there are some extremely gifted 4th graders who might be able to get a few points, but the average 4th grader would be so overwhelmed that he wouldn't be able to score anything.
That's pretty much what it would be like for any of us to play against an NBA team.

I'm a mid range shooter and a post up player. Posting up will be out of the question. I would run behind screens and pull up. At least 2 points. On defense, my opponent will score on me all day.

Assuming the other team is playing to win, nobody here is scoring more than maybe one lucky basket tops in 48 minutes. Unless you are currently a professional basketball player in some other league, the chances of you scoring against an NBA defense is basically zero

0, and anyone who thinks they would score more is delusional unless they are actually professional basketball players like nikster said. The only way I or anyone else here scores a point is if you're on the warriors and the other team just decides to leave you 100% open the entire game to double team Curry or Durant, and even then you will be embarrassingly bad and awkward to watch.

I’d score atleast 10 points. I’m a decent ball-handler, great off the ball, good shooter, good touch, physically strong & very fast in transition.

I could get some openings here or there throughout a 48 minute game.

I’d get destroyed on defense though. Only about 5’11 but still 200lbs at 23 yrs old. Still in my athletic prime.

The people who absolutely suck or never played sports competitively can speak for themselves.

It's hilarious reading some people believe they would have scored any points at all, let alone 10+. When you think you have already seen most delusional people...

There is only one way anyone here could score, and that's shooting from 50 feet. Nobody would be defending you, because they know it's a low % shot and they'd be happy you taking them. Still, the chance of you scoring that one is higher than zero. But since it's supposedly a competitive game, I don't see how coach doesn't bench you after first try.

Edit: a lot of posts around here make much more sense to me now, to be honest.

In a real nba game that I started and played all 48 min, I’d get 15-20 points. I’m an ok shooter, but no team that is trying to win would actually guard me, they would just dare me to shoot. If I had an absolute green light, figure I could go make 6 or 7 uncontested three pointers out of 30-40 attempts. Unless my teammates freez me out.

If I could score any points in the NBA I'd be in the NBA, they're finding guys in remote countries to play in the NBA and you mean to tell me all they had to do was check RealGM which is loaded with rotational guys? Who knew.

NBA: 0 pts
MLB: .000 BA, although I suppose I could get lucky one time
NFL: 0 catches and would probably be under concussion protocol on my first pass catch attempt, assuming I wasn't snapped in two
NHL: 0 goals and a lot less permanent teeth
MLS: 0 goals plus I lack drama queen skills
PGA: I *might* be able to get under 100 for at least one round
PBA: I could get lucky and bowl one of my 220-230 games and win one game in a tournament. About as good as it gets.

I was a deadeye spot-up and one-dribble shooter when I played in HS and could do little else. I imagine being an out of shape ball of paste now in my mid 30s, the defense would sag off of me like Ben Simmons or Rondo. If I got an open look or two, maaaaybe I can hit a jumper. So best case scenario, 3 points.

I did drop a jumper over Will Bynum in a HS game, so I can at least claim that much

You are stuck in the old way of nba thinking, simple math dictates that me shooting at that rate is more effective for the other team, than a fast break 2 and putting the ball in one of my teammates hands.
