This is the roster we will be finishing the season with.

Looks like Meeks didn't receive another 10 day.

We can still resign Meeks. His 10 day contract resets our clock and gives us 2 weeks to wait before needing to sign another player to meet the minimum roster requirement of 14 players. We might wait the full 2 weeks to maximize our tax savings. If Meeks is still available, he might get another 10 day or a rest of the season contract.

If that's the game the team is playing, I disagree with it. With less than 20 games left in the regular season, every day and practice matters to get any new guys acclimated. I understand we're talking about the 14th and 15th roster spots here but if there's even a chance those players would need to be used on an emergency basis, better to get them in and around the team now.

I understand what you are saying but ....
... in the playoffs, we will likely have an 8-9 man rotation
... we have 11 guys that Nurse wants to use and is already having trouble getting enough minutes for
... we have 2 guys in Boucher and Miller that are emergency injury replacements for 4 positions who are familiar with the schemes
... that last position of PG we have 3 guys who can play at a high level
... everyone that is available doesn't really add much more than Boucher or Miller realistically

I understand the worry about a C to cover Embiid/Cousins if Gasol/Ibaka are injured but the reality is whoever they pick up will just be a big body to pick up fouls and doesn't really need to learn the schemes. Getting them now as opposed to 2 weeks from now is really not going to change things all that much for these injury replacements.

When JV was injured, we were often using OG as our emergency centre and we even had McCaw cover the opposing teams centre with some success in spurts. We will probably just go smaller.

Gortat is not going to want to come here because we have no minutes for him.

Excellent points. Honestly, if we need a 3rd string backup centre to play significant minutes because of injury to our main guys we are in big trouble. We aren’t winning a 7 game series with Boucher or a bigger guy like Erik Moreland playing backup minutes.

Like you said, if anything we will just go smaller. We are good enough that we can push opponents to adjust to what we are doing.

Damn. I guess this is the team we rolling with. Boucher will be our main back up big if anyone gets hurt.

A big like Gortat would have been nice insurance, but a luxury I know as a 3rd C. But Meeks really disappoints me, he showed he can shoot the 3, and do most everything else pretty well. He is a veteran. He could really contribute, but it would be much better to be working him in now rather than bring back later. Let Miller go instead.
There goes my hero. Watch him as he goes.

I wouldn't mind giving Miller a little bit of run instead of Powell, just to see what we have there. He has good size, can defend and shoot the 3.

That's overkill for the center position. The center position has definitely changed in the modern NBA. I'm afraid we won't even have enough minutes for Ibaka.

Doesn't make sense to sign Gortat.

Wish we had a Gortat like performer as a SF/PF , it'd be amazing to sign him.

only reason why i can think they want Gortat is that Nurse was seen trying both Ibaka and Gasol at the same time. if this happens, or if a match up really needs the Raps to play big, Gortat is needed.

I was really hoping the Rockets would implode after their rough start so we could steal Tucker back, but Harden went video game mode instead.

Who would you rather have? Gortat or Bogut?

Bogut I think.

VC 3 point making ability is right out, of course, right?

Bogut 100%

But unfortunately we're too deep in the center position.

Wish there was talent like this available for the 3/4 positions.

He'd actually be great, but.yeah that was a long shot even if they imploded. Could just see More reshuffling the deck before anything.

There was a report last week that Gortat turned down an offer from the bucks because he was hoping to sign with gsw. Looks like one of Philly, GSW, Raps will be left with their dick in hand. Most likely Bogut will go to GSW and Gortat will go to Raps.
