How much is Bogey worth?

The guy is making it very difficult right about now not to tender him a new deal.

Assuming no other free agents are available, how much do you guys think he's worth?

Before signing with Pacers he stated that playing ( starting ) is more important than money. I think he would agree for 2-3y contract 15m. Seeing Parsons, Batum having 25m, Bojan certainly worth minimum 15m per year. In my opinion if Indiana offers him 15 with role he currently has, and some other club 20 as a role player or bencher, he'd stay in Indiana.

in last night's game thread, Scoot calculated his early bird number at 18.

Since we just signed Turner for $18 million, I would expect Bogey to sign for a similar amount.

Since his cap hold is only $13.7 million, we will use that until we have signed all of our free agents, then come back to sign him. We will probably have a deal in place, he just won't sign it until later in free agency.

Yup on the timing. Also, for the same, but inverse, reason, expect a possible Thad re signing to come first since he has a $20m cap hold, but will likely agree for less than that (say $12-15m?) which would open up cap space. It behooves us to lower Thad’s number, while utilizing Bojan’s lower cap number as long as we can until re signing.

What he’ll get on the open market is a tough question. It’s possible someone might throw him a number north of $20m per if they strike out elsewhere. He’s shot very well, and we’ve rehabilitated his defense to be passable, so someone may covet his skills.

Yeah that's the thing. What is the most money some GM might throw at a small forward that can shoot threes? That might be a bigger number than we expect. Solomon Hill got a crazy contract just for hitting some big threes in a playoff series.

I'd love to see him back, but I'm worried that the whole preferring fit over money thing was for a shot to show what he could do. And he is certainly showing it right now.

I'm sorry, but I cannot agree with that

At $10m, Bogie is someone I can tolerate; at anything above $15m it's an overpay for me

Eric Gordon makes $13.5m, and Louis Williams makes $8m - even if their salaries were all equal, either one of them are players I'd prefer over Bogie

Porter makes 26, Wiggins makes 25, Parsons is 24, Gallinari 22, Noah is 20 :D , Jabari Parker is 20, Crabbe 29, George Hill is 19...

With your logic Bogey is worth minimum 20...

Gordon only has one more year left, and Lou signed as an undervalued player. But the bigger issue is that they are under contract, and valued, already. Would you take Eric Gordon at $13.5m for one year and unrestricted if it cost you a 1st in trade or Bogey locked in for, day, 3 years at $18m per? And if you take Gordon, what do you do the following year? Trade another 1st for someone or go out and overpay in free agency and get a lesser player than Bogey?

I’m not saying we keep Bogey at all costs, but we also can’t just compare him against Gordon (though I’d take Bogey if contracts aren’t considered), when we also don’t look at the other costs that would go in (picks or young players to net “valued assets” in trade).

Ok smarthead..if Bogey walks Pacers will replace him with who? Not for 10mil..lets say 15-18mill..who will that good or lets say beter wing than Bogie..who will want to come to play for Pacers if that better?
Nobody..so Bogie for 15-17mill/year for next 3 years is the best value-period.
Even if he wants 4th give it..easy to trade as expiring contract..actually would be an asset to have with tax goong up few times by then.
Besides, all this talk is irrelative, Pacer’s owner needs the team in play off as often as possible..needs team being profitable..
Bogie is carrying this team on his bach to the playoffs this year. He will be re-signed and paid. He is smart he understands that a million or two elsewhere (remember Washington) might be a bad fit and less playing time.
So there will be mitual understanding.

Bogey is a smart guy and a fierce competitor. I'm sure he values more 30+ mpg in Indiana than 20 mpg on Rockets for example.

I'm sure you will sign him for 15-17 / 3 years.

It's clear he loves Indianapolis and playing for the Pacers. He's someone on this team, a go-to guy when Oladipo has off nights and a first scoring option when Oladipo is gone, like now. Fans love him. I can't see him leaving all of that.

Besides that, he's 29, he still has 3 years in his prime and then couple of years where he could go as a vet on a contender.

Absolutely, he is a top 10 small forward in the NBA, so 18 mil for him is not overpay, it's a fair price.

With how he’s played and produced this year, I’m just hoping we can sign him with his early bird rights and he doesn’t outplay our ability to keep him! He’s not a sexy player, but he’s fit in seamlessly in every way. Even his defense has gotten better year over year to a point of not being so bad at all. Add in that he’s even played the 4 spot at times, with no complaints at all, and he seems to be well liked by everyone he plays with, and I really see no reason not to re sign him, even at up to 4 years, unless he wants maybe $25m or more a year? But, if he’s take a 3 year deal at his early bird rights number, flat salary, ($18.375m), is lock him in and not worry too much. Raises are where I’d worry a bit.

given past contracts, I'd think we'd ask for the final year to be a team option.

Hopefully, by that time the "contender" would be the Pacers.

whatever the price, Pacers must show him the money or risk falling back into mediocrity.
