We have a cakewalk schedule to end the season. Of the 19 games remaining:

9 are against tanking teams or teams that have no realistic hope for the playoffs. 4 or those are at home.
6 are against teams that are actually good: DEN (twice), UTA (twice), SAS and BOS. 4 of those are at home.
4 are against the teams competing with us for the 8th seed: CHA (twice), ORL and MIA. 3 of those are at home.

If we just beat that bad teams and win the home games against 8th seed competitors, we would go 12-7 while also establishing the tiebreaker advantage over ORL and MIA. That's probably not quite enough to make the playoffs, but it will put us real close. A real key would be to beat Charlotte twice, which would get us the tiebreaker over them as well (not to mention deliver them 2 losses). That might be enough. A win or two against the good teams will probably clinch it.

BTW, that Boston game is the last game of the season and they may not have anything to play for.

#SoWizards to go on an epic run to get swept in the first round and save Ernie's job.

Indeed. Although, I sugar coated the 9 games against tanking teams part. Many of those games are against the likes of Minnesota, Dallas, LA Lakers, and Sacramento. Those teams are likely out of the playoffs, but we play them soon enough that they may still be striving to get in. There are definitely some lose-able games in that group. It's a metaphysical certainty that Dallas will beat us.

Ahhhh, the Jay Glassie gift and prophecy
4/24/2012
I have not watched the Washington Wizards play in three months. Not one stolen inbounds pass, bungled defensive rotation, nor a single image of a team losing by double digits laughing on the bench. It’s been incredibly liberating. Oh I’m aware they’ve won five straight games to end the season. Of course they have, because this is what they always do under Ernie Grunfeld. Ted Leonsis will smile and nod and scold the critics for their lack of empathy. I do have empathy. I have empathy for whoever bought the season tickets I finally gave up this year because I couldn’t stand it anymore. Those who bought into the con-game of Ernie Grunfeld and Ted Leonsis. To be honest though, those seats probably are vacant, because Ted and Ernie have lost far more than games these last four years. They’ve lost the fans.

All that needs to happen for Ted to maintain the FO treadmill operation is for the Wizards to "finish strong" to end the year, I believe Ted (and Ernie) will roll-out their tried a true list of excuses regardless and Ernie will get re-upped.

I'm a current planholder (full season)

I'm resolved to stick by a resolution to not renew unless EG is fired.
And I've been clear to communicate this to my account rep.

Ditto for me. My account rep has known for weeks that I think this should be the last year of the EG regime...and my rep privately agrees. Last night I was talking to the couple that sits next to my wife and I and they are also going to make it known to their rep that they'll likely not renew their season tickets if EG remains GM.

I may have offered this before but just in case, I would welcome an opportunity
to meet you (DCZards) just to say hello and put a face to a name. I can't go to the
DAL game but some game between now and the end of the year. FWIW, I sit in 104
right on the aisle one row below Candace Buckner's usual place on the print media
platform above the wizards tunnel.

Nothing else in the draft raises my eyebrows and even so do you trust a GM that picked Jan Vesley as a lottery pick to make the right choice?

Wins are losses

Losses don't mean wins. Wiz fans should already know this.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.
