So in this scenario you acquire Anthony Davis for some Chik fil A nuggets?
I think this suggests, AD as a FA in 2020, not via trade.
Its impossible to think Durant would want to sign in Atlanta as a free agent with the hope that Davis doesn't get traded to a team he will commit to staying at and then choose to come play with Durant after another wasted year for both players.
These things can be arranged ahead of time. And even if you don't believe that, realistically we are as good of a destination as the Knicks, Clippers, Boston or the Lakers due to the abundant amount of cap space we'll have in 2020. The Knicks and Clippers have a worse roster than us. Boston can only surround Davis with Kyrie, Horford and a diminished Hayward. The Lakers are a mess and LeBron is only getting older. There's no guarantees they can get a third big name to join. We've got Trae and Collins who look like future all stars at minimum for the next 10 years. Kevin has looked good in his own right and we've still got a few nice pieces in Bembry, Prince and Dedmon that any contender could use. Follow that up with two lotto picks and a GM who's proven he's got an eye or talent. You add Durant and Davis to that and who can beat that team?
Pretty sure it's us the Knicks or the Clippers who can pair these guys together. I think it's fair to say we've got the best pieces to surround them. It's all about selling that vision to them, which it seems like Schlenk is now pushing to do.
