And the corporate tax cuts were a significant and meaningful tool to spur the economy. If they had only done that - they would have looked terrific (especially if they had gradually lowered the rates).
And if they had also used the repatriation in the right way, that would have also been significant and meaningful.
So, as much as I want to bury the Rs because they failed - I don't want to lose track of the things that did right - or should I say, I hope the Ds don't lose track of this... just raising rates across the board is also not helpful.
I think you're being incredibly optimistic (could use a more pejorative word there) to expect that
the 'honest' GOP (once bought they stay bought) would do
any of those things in the right way.
Try pointing to another recent example where they did things the right way as opposed to the way
their 1% donor class insisted they should.
As for the issue of having a singular focus on tax reduction, nope, that's not the dem playbook either.
You can accuse them of other sorts of irresponsibility, but not of that one.
