I can't help but think that another game developer could have done a lot more with these games as the technology has improved dramatically since the original ones, but the original ones were just amazing for a kid growing up in those years. My family would go on a vacation that required like an 8 hour drive and I could just turn my Gameboy on and play the Pokemon games the entire drive and never be bored.

On one hand, they definitely could be more bold with their design ideas and systems, pushing for innovation.

On the other hand, it's like my video game comfort food. Occasionally I just want to sit down with a box of kraft macaroni and cheese and feel content.

I think I'm going to check it out. My SO loves Pokemon. Maybe we can each get one of the games and do the trade thing. That's a thing you do with Pokemon games right?

SHOOT DIVINE IRE RIGHT INTO MY VEINS.

So excited. I'm still tempted to roll a bow user to start the league, but might go holy witch instead. Or maybe a holy templar...that would be interesting.

Yes. I haven’t played the more recent ones (besides Let’s Go which is essentially a remake of the old ones) but I think they’ve stayed with the same formula, which is that there’s a few Pokémon that are exclusive to each version of the game so you have to trade if you want to get all of them.

Excited for Pokemon, but I have a really hard time getting it up for anything besides the OG 151.

Yup, the new ones were just that.

I'd start with either Yellow, Silver/Gold, Fire Red/Leaf Green if I had to pick one. I've played the new ones and while they are fun I feel like it's necessary to start with one of the first two gens. I'd actually avoid Let's Go simply because it was more of a casual game than what Sword/Shield will be.

Fire Red/Leaf Greens are remakes of Red/Blue but on GBA and with a few extras. But the reason I like Yellow as a first choice is because you get to obtain all of the original starter Pokemon + Pikachu and he follows you around.

The memories I have with the OG 151...I remember it well, it was shortly after Christmas and my grandma always gave us $100 (she spoiled us) as a gift. I went with my mom and sister to Best Buy in West Towne and picked out Blue.

Didn't put it down for years. I remember playing it at recess and if I was in a battle and couldn't save I'd hide it in my desk and try and finish it out. I was also the first kid at my school to get all Pokemon. I had a Gameboy Printer too and printed off the little plaque you get and I thought I was the coolest kid ever. Eventually the games and the cards were banned at my school.

I still play one of the versions at least once a year.

I'd probably vote Silver/Gold as the starting point. Breeding and EV/IV stuff I believe all started there, and that's such an important piece of the puzzle as an RPG.

3.6 drops today and I'm about to travel for 9 days. This is the fourth release in a row that I have been playing PoE and miss the release. Not fair.

ETA: Nevermind, it's March 8th. Regardless, I'll still be missing it. Sigh.

Finally received the email from Gigabyte saying that my motherboard has been repaired, and that it should be delivered on Friday.

All in all, the turnaround time was about a month, so not terrible.

A passing mention in a Kotaku article about Days Gone (looks good, would like to play) made me go back and watch a review of the PS4 game Mad Max. I'm not sure why I dismissed it almost four years ago. It looks like Arkham City crossed with Twisted Metal, so right up my alley. Gonna go find a used copy and check it out.

Looks great. Never played a DMC game before, save about ten minutes of DMC4.

I loved the Mad Max game. Had it for PS4 and re-bought it on PC a few months ago. It's a great game to just relax and have mindless fun with. Combat is very much like the Arkham series, which I love. I felt they could have gone a bit deeper on vehicle customization, but all in all, it's a fun game.

So, I need to break down and finally buy a new iPhone (my 6s is working great but I bent the plug for my charging cable while it was in the phone and now the phone barely connects to charge). Anyway - is there any advantage to going to either Best Buy, Verizon or the Apple Store? I know I'll get the same phone at I believe the same price, but didn't know if there was any benefit one way vs the other vs the other?

I did it. I finally won a Tetris 99 game. Time for bed.

It shouldn't really matter unless one retailer is offering a discount, financing option, or you collect Best Buy rewards points. You should be able to bring your phone to Apple for servicing regardless of where you buy it.

Cool, thanks. As much as I don't want to, I think I'm leaning towards the Apple store as I'm not very proficient with how iCloud works and I have some texts and stuff I cannot lose in the migration.

Bout to get on a flight home, have exhausted all of my Switch games. I’ve never played any Final Fantasy’s, is IX a good place to start? I know it was mentioned a couple pages back but I’d appreciate more input :)
