Rodi definitely has to keep starting at 4 and getting major minutes. Really important part of the team.
Russell's confidence is sky high. Guy was just out there playing street ball. It definitely backfired at times but I like the swagger.
LeVert took the game over right when Cleveland was about to pull away. Didn't put it all together today but his defense, 3pt shooting, and rim attacks were huge.
Dinwiddie is a beast. He was out there cooking guys in isolation.

Have to give Kenny some props because I wasn't sure a Caris/Spencer backcourt would give us enough shooting but having the ability to pick our match up of "who can we abuse more driving to the hole" has been a major lift for the bench.
Rodi no surprise really fits what we look for at the 4, and while he and DC played fairly well the size that Cavs have (which the Mavs didn't) nearly bit us on the butt tonight.
It's really been that bench that's the catalyst as Crabbe really hasn't played all that well in the starting lineup.
Still, we really didn't play all that well vs the Cavs. I compared the Mavs game to the Denver game, and this one I compare to the Bulls(?) game that followed it.
And then we lost like 2 games before that pre-all start 3OT game vs the Cavs (which was then followed by the 3 game losing streak if I recall).

We either get ahead big on some great shots, or we fall behind significantly, especially by the 2nd quarter if those shots aren't falling b/c we don't have post options. this happens without fail no matter who the opponent is. I hope next year when get get a year 3 Jarret Allen and a new power forward that we'll have some better success with going a second route if the 3's aren't falling.
we have plenty of options if the threes dont fall
Dinwiddie going to the hoop
Levert going to the hoop
Carroll going to the hoop
Russell pick and roll or midrange game
going to the post is a terrible idea. no one wins that way. i pray the cavs lean heavy on love post touches. if love scores 30 in the post we win by 40 again
Totally disagree. You have a good post option for a few plays to get the defense to slough in, and then you go right back to the long range game. It's not a whole game long thing. Demarcus Cousins is going to be big in the post season run for Golden State b/c of this.

IDK, I really like Caris with the reserves getting his time with them, and occasionally with the starting guys too later in the game.
Russell being the primary ball carrier with one group with 3 quality shooters and PnR with Allen is great, then you have Din and Caris alternating with the second unit are ball movers... I really like that approach. I even wrote a long thing about Caris moving back to the bench last week under his thread, and then deleted the whole thing before posting b/c I thought it'd never happen and was too silly of an idea. It actually looks like it's working now though.

dribble penetration imo is much more effective. Russell, LeVert, and Dinwiddie are all threats to score when they get inside of the paint (Russell with his mid range game, Spence/LeVert with their downhill drives)

post offense doesnt help. it kills ball movement because no one doubles in the post anymore. they dare you to score in the post even with a huge mismatch and live with the result. because post offense is second only to contested midrange jumpers as far as terrible offense goes
you will never see post offense under markinson, or any modern regime.
Cousins doesnt post up much at all, it wont be a factor

He’s not a long term option coming off the bench. He’s a starter. But I guess what we’re doing is working for now. I feel like they compliment each other, Caris more attacking/driving style while Russell is more cerebral and looking to shoot from the outside. They worked well together the last 2 games.

Caris more closely mimics Manu stylistically then anyone since Harden. If he's OK with coming off the bench for the long term he makes a ton of sense in that spot.
