Re: Season Speculation, Free Agency & Trade Ideas: Our Johnson is finally working
Ive gone back and forth about blowing this squad up, to keeping it largely intact. Crazy... but that is a product of having all these younguns...a new coach, and new players. These guys can look so GD mediocre to bad one week, then flipswitching to a competitive team the next. Im hoping for a reasonably good finish to this yr so I can get on one side of the fence.
Truly, I think continuity and chemistry are a huge asset. These guys have been beat down together, and now see a little light ahead. Im rowing the boat of drafting one of these three... Zion of course, then a close toss up between Morant and Alexander-Walker (leaning to A-W... check him out, fits right in with the length and D movement*) We keep TJo as a tutor and possible big expiring for mid season shake up if it isnt working. I want to keep Bender on, would like Holmes cheap, and no way I move Melton. Oubre is becoming a given, and I expect a 4 yr 50-55 mill deal with a PO.
The expendables ? one of Warren (sorry TJ) or Jackson needs to go. Okobo is a toss in. Whichever brings back the best player needed. We either draft Zion or we dont. If not, it is vital we get some size and D at PF. Shooting too. Is there such a dude? I still get pissy thinking we could have had either LMarkki or Isaac here instead of Jackson. Holy smokes... what a buffooned up pick in retrospect of what we need.
* https://accsports.com/acc-analytics/point-of-walker-vts-nickeil-alexander-walker-continues-evolution-as-nba-draft-stock-rises/ This was 3 mos ago, he's cooled off some on the crazy shooting%s... but still is a dude to watch

I just fear we'll overpay for Rozier
Brogdon is playing SG a lot, no problem at all for them.
On the court maybe. But financially, they just gave Bledsoe $70 mil. They have to pay Middleton probably $100 mil (at least). If they win a title this year, then they may as well run it back and dip into the tax. But if they come up short, or don't reach the finals, it'll be hard to convince ownership of a small market to go through the next few seasons as a tax payer.
Seems most of their fanbase would rather pay Brogdon than Middleton, especially if he's cheaper.

Yeah Bucks fans were basically turning "Middleton a max player" into a meme when I was reading their game thread.

I am good bringing back Tyler Johnson even at the 19.4 - just suck it up and take it as there is probably not a number that he would rip up his contract for that makes sense for the Suns
Oubre - your numbers seem good - just keep the cap hold
Holmes - they have the cap hold so can wait on him
Bender or another 4 makes sense for the 4.4m exception
Melton I am keeping
Okobo - move in a trade
Where it gets dicey is with 6mn of projected cap space based on the above - how do the Suns really imporve PG and PF with Warren and Jackson. This is where we disagree - I think its going to take a non Zion FRP - whatever it turns out to be - that takes that 8m cap hit and turns it into a player. Combined with Jackson and possibly Warren.
So I think its Warren, Jackson and if the pick is not Zion - move that pick and somehow get your PF and PG. If you do that, whether its Bender or whomever, they should be able to sign a veteran who can contribute and shoot decently for that exception that was 4.4m this year. As for trading the draft pick - I think the Suns have the youth with - they need an experienced player

Holmes house is for sale (recently) I think he is gone in the off-season.

Why are you moving Okobo? He's only $1 million on the cap you control for 4 years. Much rather have him with the upside than mess around with G league and 10 day contract players again next year. If we keep Tyler we don't need to play him much and can develop..end of bench guy.

I really wonder if a team told Phoenix, "we will trade you 'X player' or 'X assets' for Warren as long as he's healthy this summer".
Maybe Jones is thinking, 'sit until the summer and we'll get you to a better place'. I just don't see what could be wrong with him to be sitting this long.

just logistics of a trade am I moving Okobo -- not that I want to move him. Just thinking he is included to help facilitate a trade. its for sure not to create cap space.

Rondo is a pass first point guard who is still a solid player but I really think he doesnt like the Suns. He has crapped on the Suns enough even when we didnt have anything really to deal with him. Some how I dont see him even interested in talking with the Suns.
We traded him away on draft night.

It's been mentioned numerous times bone bruises like his usually take about 7 weeks. It's been around 6. Jones just said yesterday he will be back and he wants to see this team at full strength.
Edit: I remembered reading it was similar to Covington's who was expected to be out 7 weeks but he's actually been out over 2 months now with no timetable so who knows?

A player that is an interesting one and is realistic to get is Danillo Gallinari.
He is gonna be an expiring contract, $22M. The guy is ridiculously good, he can play perfectly PF (legit 6'10 and strong), great shooter and his basketball IQ is pretty high.
He has been healthy this season and he is gonna play on a contract year next season. He is SUPER skilled. He will be 31 years old next season, not too old.
If you think about he can be perfect next to Ayton on the frontcourt. Defensively it is true that he is not great, but he is not a liability. He is smart and plays good positional defense, he is average at worst.

I'm not sure he would be invested in a rebuilding project. We've seen him give up on previous teams when things don't go his way.

This mf so delusional. The real deal is almighty lebron isnt as good as he thinks he is. They actually have a pretty talented young squad but everything gotta be deflected off you. bitch.

Is TJ warren on that good of a contract when he can only play 2/3rds of an NBA season consistently?

Lakers have players like Rondo, Lance and KCP that are core players with veteran experience
The Suns "older players' are Kelly Oubre and Tyler Johnson. I know Crawford plays but come on
thats stupid by Lebron
James had every right to go to LA - and I knew this was a coast year for him. I knew they would probably not make the playoffs. He got what he wanted.

I don't think he expected to miss it. I think he knew it wouldn't be as easy as in the East but I don't think he was going to write off this season. But you're right, he got what he wanted. The West is no joke
