You can only keep one: Vuc or Ross?
I go with Ross every day of the week because he provides what modern NBA teams need and should come in at a much cheaper price... and we drafted a center in the lotto last year. What do you guys think?

I believe him and I wouldn’t mind both at the right cost, just wanted to get a feel for the board.

If I had to pick one? Ross. We drafted Bamba and Birch is a serviceable backup. Vuc is going to want a real contract coming off his all star year. They are keeping both though because Orlando can never acquire talent and has no other offense.

Cant blindly answer this because it depends on contracts. Id rather have Vuc @ 20 million than Ross at 10 million, but id rather have Ross at 15 million than Vuc at 30 million

There is no point of keeping Ross if you don't resign Vuc.
Without Vuc this is 20-25 wins team.

To me, the language in that really sounds like WeHam have a specific offer in mind for each of them, and if that’s not to their liking, they won’t go beyond that. “They have decisions to make”. He’s really putting it on them.

Re: You can only keep one: Vuc or Ross?
Whichever contract is more movable? I worry about paying players having career years in contract seasons. Neither player was really trending in a positive direction before this season. I don't know how much to credit the motivation for a new contract or the influence of Clifford for the performances of each player this year.
Vucevic is the better player between the two. I just don't think what Ross offers is particularly valuable. Clifford has given him the green light to fire anytime he can get a shot off. It's great that he can hit difficult shots, but it isn't really a good thing that our offense relies as heavily as it does on the kind of shots that Ross takes.
I think it's probable that Isaac will be the best player on the team within a year or two. I would've traded both Vucevic and Ross when we had the chance to. The Isaac/Iwundu draft class has given me some confidence in our ability to draft and develop talent. My hope for this summer is that we don't do too much damage to our future by committing too much money to long-term contracts that inhibit our ability to continue to build a competitive roster.

Agreed, I'm a big fan of Ross' but he's still a little tough to watch. He takes crazy, rushed shots -but this year he's made a lot of them. The role he's playing here suits him perfectly. I don't think it's as simple as sliding him into a starter role. I think NBA execs see that and that his $$ value, realistically, is not that high. Same as Vuc, their seasons are inflated by their prominent roles in Clifford's system. I don't feel that either is playing out of their minds in a contract year - their doing what they've always done, but in a more suitable role that suits them perfectly. Most fans think more of their individual values to other teams than bball execs will (IMO)...I think they are both back in ORL for modest raises...but, to answer the question, Vucevic-and he gets 18/yr for 3, maybe 4 years. Very tradable deal in a couple of years if Bamba makes it likely.

I agree with this basic principle, not optimistic either will be super movable though if we retain both players.

Re: You can only keep one: Vuc or Ross?
I’d love to keep both, and hope we do. Ross has made it within the realm of possibility that we finally rid ourselves of Evan Fournier this summer. So I love Ross, but the reality is we become a much worse basketball team next year if Vucevic isn’t here. He’s far beyond the best player on this team. If we have to keep just one, Nikola Vucevic is it. But, I agree with an earlier poster, in that I think Jonathan Issac is gonna be the guy here in a year or 2. He’s making the possibility of improving this team wide open. With his improvements improvements and hopefully Bamba’s, it certainly boded well for us moving Gordon and Fournier for a difference maker at the wing spots.
You look confused...let me fill you in.

Bring back Ross and Vuc if the price is right. If not, move on.

I love what Ross shoots us in the arm with on any given night. But Vuc is the one that drives this team and it ain't even close. Plus... what ross brings to the team is moPre replaceable than what Vuc does.

Likely a similar thought from the player's perspective.... Ross probably doesn't re-sign unless Vuc is staying.

Re: You can only keep one: Vuc or Ross?
My vote is for Vooch, and it's not close.
However, I think people may be overestimating Ross' market value. It seems to me that he is essentially an MLE-level player. It just seems unlikely to me that a team will go through the trouble of clearing big cap space in order to spend it on a career backup.
Can anybody think of a specific team with cap space that is likely to spend it on a streaky second-unit shooter?

Re: You can only keep one: Vuc or Ross?
This isn't Vučević or Ross, but whether we keep Vučević if it takes more than 4/85? Ross may stay or go, we can find replacement.
I'm willing to sign Vučević for max if it is for 2 years. I might even go as far as 3/70 and that is tough. I just don't see the need for Vučević in his 3rd and 4th season here with Bamba in the wings.

The reason I go with Ross is your thought on his contract. I think Vuc is going to get 22+ per year while Ross gets no more than 12 per.

Re: You can only keep one: Vuc or Ross?
How would people feel if we shifted our teams playstyle by bringing in someone like DeAndre Jordan on a short term contract to replace Vuc until Bamba is ready?
He would allow us to play A LOT faster, be pretty cheap allowing us to nab someone like Danny Green to bolster the bench with the MLE. Plus Isaac and AG would both benefit from a faster pace of play.
