If teams could ONLY play guys they drafted...

Post#1 » by CycklopsGT » Mon Mar 11, 2019 1:04 am

Who do you think would be the best teams currently, and who would have the best All-Time Team?

Spoiler:
I'm guessing the Warriors and Thunder would be the ones trading chips, but the Sixers would still have a great core. All-Time, at first I thought the Celtics would crush everyone, then I realized Wilt was drafted by the Warriors :o .

Like they’d get back all guys they drafted in the past even if they are on other teams, or if a current player on their team wasn’t drafted by them they are ineligible?

If the former Warriors, OKC and Cleveland would be really good.

If the latter, Golden State would be dominant and don’t think anyone else would be close. Maybe Milwaukee and Boston would be okay.

Edit - forgot about Philly - they’d be really good for both situations.

I think the Thunder would be by far the NBA's top squad.

The Suns Nash 7SOL would be up there. Suns drafted the core. Nash/Amare/Marion/Rondo/Jackson/Deng/Gortat

Raptors would be shockingly good historically. Pretty good right now too.

I don't think they would come close though they have hit on some good players later in the draft. As for now, DD, Siakam, OG, Val, Wright, isn't very strong.

The Lakers would be destroyed. Shaq, Kobe, and KAJ weren't drafted by them.

The Warriors would wreck EVERYBODY:

Wilt Chamberlain
Nate Thurmond
Steph Curry
Klay Thompson
Paul Arizin
Draymond Green
Chris Mullin
Rick Barry

The Bull would also do fairly well

Michael Jordan
Derrick Rose
Jimmy Butler
Luol Deng
Joakim Noah
Artis Gilmore
Horace Grant

I think Thunder would take GS, no one really compares in the east.

Warriors would have Parish too. Wilt was a territorial pick when the team was in Philly, those were some really shady rules.

I mean y’all hate him but Kawhi. He wasn’t drafted by Indiana
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

What's the definition of drafted? Put on their hat or ended draft night on their team?

For example, Kawhi was drafted by the Indiana Pacers. Really he was drafted by the Spurs, but because the trade hadn't been finalized he was technically drafted by the Pacers, even though they were a middle man and he was a Spur by the end of the night.

Same for Vince Carter. He was technically drafted by Golden State and traded to Toronto. Does he go on Golden State's all-time draft roster?

Countless other examples as well

Chauncey Billups
Joe Johnson
Paul Pierce
Larry Bird
Dave Cowens

JoJo White
Marcus Smart
Reggie Lewis
Kevin McHale
Al Jefferson

Our Center position for the draft is pretty weak... all things considered.

Bucks:

Pg:Moncrief
Sg:Erving
Sf: Antetokounmpo
Pf: Nowitzki
C: Abdul Jabbar

Bench:
Marbury
English
Dandridge
Johnson
Baker
Bogut

I think we would be contending.

Kobe would be on the Hornets by my measure. But obviously if somebody wants to count it differently, nothing is stopping them.

Andre Roberson / Wally Szczerbiak / Corey Brewer
Kevin Garnett
Karl-Anthony Towns / Nikola Pekovic

If a guy was simply drafted on behalf of another team I’d have him on the only team he ever played for e.g. Kobe and Dirk have to be on Lakers/Mavs

Current teams it’s hard to imagine someone beating the Thunder or Warriors

All time, not the greatest but Bulls would have a great defensive team, so many potential lineups to include some of the best defenders of all time.

Also Oakley and Artest on the same team, opposing teams would be at risk every night

I’ve only including guys I watched play

Gilmore/Noah/Chandler
Brand/Grant/Mirotic/Oakley/Gibson
Pippen/Butler/Deng/Kukoc
Jordan/Artest/Gordon
Rose/Crawford/Hinrich/BJ Armstrong

Why? They literally drafted him on behalf of the Lakers. Never played a game for the Hornets. Absolutely ridiculous to count him as a Hornets draft pick.

No one is beating, imo:
David Robinson
Tim Duncan
Kawhi Leonard
Manu Ginobili
Tony Parker
