I used to work in the industry and worked with many people at his publisher.

Before I left the company, about a year or so ago, the rumors were that neither book will be completed.

His production company is currently his main interest and where he pursues his daily work. Also, he has paperwork stating that his wife/proteges cannot finish the series from his notes/drafts.

I'm a writer myself, and these rumors always made sense to me. He started this series in the 90s, I'd be **** bored of it too by now.

Really wish I had never read this post hahah...

The worst part is that I consider the show to basically be fan fiction at this point, and I can't see myself being satisfied no matter how "epic" they make it.

I have read spoilers on r/freefolk that will make us all need therapy forever.

There are two leading theories that both overlap on the most major development.

Rooting for the more savage one.

I should note that although I left that place a year ago, I heard those same rumors for years from credible people. I basically use the show as a book surrogate now so I don't read the spoilers (I don't care that much though). And not that it matters much as 3D Chess said, but iirc DB/DB did get some sort of vague outline of where the books were headed to from George himself.

If it makes you feel better, 3D Chess, Martin isn't good at endings at all. I have read most of his other work and this is a constant theme. Occasionally he nails it with a short story but even that is rare (his short stories are excellent otherwise). ADOS probably would end with the war still raging and Jon as Azor Ahai clashing swords with the Night King if it wasn't a dream of a book. That's as Martin-esque as it gets, trust me, and I have to assume DB/DB won't do that.

I have only read Fevre Dream, of his non-ASOIAF works, and I really enjoyed it and was satisfied by the ending.

Here's a quote from a recent interview with GRRM that jives with what you and Ed Pinkney have said:

”I’m working on it, I try not to look at the big picture, ever..because then it becomes incredibly intimidating. I try to say, ‘I’ll pick it up today; I’m gonna write a couple of pages, let’s see, one page at a time, one sentence at a time, one..... word at a time, if you look at... oh god, I have thousands of pages left to write and they have to be great or everyone will be mad at me, ummm... then it becomes very intimidating”

”at one time I was having a huge pressure on myself to keep ahead of the show, and uh... I failed...when I recognized that I had lost that battle, um... (fiddles with hands, lost for words for a few seconds) I don’t know, heh heh....”

This looks pretty dang hype.

Any of you seen the "Littlefinger is still alive" theories going around on YouTube? Actually borderline convincing I have to say.

I thought Fevre Dream was one of the worst pieces of writing I've ever read. One of the three books in my life I have thrown in the trash upon completion.

Admittedly I read it years ago, and I do remember some of it being very on the nose WRT race especially, but overall I have a positive impression of it in my brain. Maybe I just have poor taste!

Heading to Dallas end of the month. Looking for recommendations on places to see or good places to eat. I think I'm gonna hit the Arboretum and Botanical Gardens. Possibly gonna go shoot an uzi or AK but it's not cheap. The JFK assassination museum is another spot I'm looking at visiting.

Here's a song

I posted this in the "Where are You From?" thread, but thought some of you might enjoy this documentary on the Portsmouth, NH music scene. Guys like Al Barr (Dropkick Murphy's) and friends of mine who play with Sully Erna, as well as acquaintances who play in the Pretty Reckless. The Queers were born in the area. Many unknown bands who absolutely fantastic. It's just under an hour long, but really cool.

I'm gonna have to completely disagree with you. I thought Fevre Dream was great and better than his song of ice and fire series. (which I find overrated anyway)

Again, one of the only books I've thrown out in my whole life. I tried my best to like it.

If you thought Fevre Dream was good, do yourself a favor and pick up the short story "A Song for Lya", "The Stone City" and the collection "Tuf Voyaging". All are much better than that crap book and all are better than ASOIAF imo. Martin writes best when writing sci-fi for whatever reason.

I'll check it out in the future. Right now my docket is full as far as reading goes. I buy a lot of books after christmas and in january to read throughout the year.

The only good Bruce Springsteen song: (actually The Wrestler is pretty good, too, to be honest)

Fargo season 1 might be the best season of television I’ve ever seen.

Seasons 2 and 3 are almost as awesome. But yeah, season 1 is top of the top shelf material.

Going to start 2 before too long. Might wait until March Madness is over. If they’re anything like season 1 they’ll be better viewed in blocks of 2-3 episodes and don’t think I can binge like that during the tournaments.

^Spoiler alert*

I watched the whole thing with my Uncle and told him about half way through that Lorne Malvo was the devil. He’s not as sold on that as I am. I’ve seen a few pieces online supporting that. What’s your take?

Season two is better. You're in for a treat. Season two is in my top three TV seasons all time.

I thought season 3 was pretty bad and I love Carrie Coon just thought the plot was stupid/boring.

And I think Lester was way more of a Satan-like chararacter. Such a POS.
