It's fun to actually be involved in this stuff for once.
At a party given by a billionaire, Kurt Vonnegut informs Joseph Heller that their host had made more money in a single day than Heller had earned from his novel Catch-22.

Heller responds, “Yes, but I have something he will never have — ENOUGH.”

Maybe we'll get burned but it's nice to have the experience of going full into full spend mode just once after getting used to TT's methods. Gute is like the responsible, home schooled kid going off the rails when he gets to college.

Gotta factor in about $10 for draft picks, right?

I think Preston may cost almost as much as ZDS so I think we're probably done. Cut Perry and that is the extra money for the draft.

Saw a report that we're also in the running for Tyrell Williams. Not sure if that's still the case with the Smith signing.

I think this thing can be defined by 3 eras:

Early Ted: Smart, draft and develop. Hey, Ted, you should supplement a bit in FA (but it was mostly fine).
Late Ted (around 2013): Cap rises, drafts begin to bust, TED DO SOMETHING.
Gute: You've got ~5 years of Aaron Rodgers left. There is literally no reason not to go all out in FA.

First free agency I've enjoyed as a Packer fan in awhile

I feel so relieved now because we still have two 1sts and can go any direction with them

Don't these guys know I have to do some work today????

If they sign Earl Thomas I might have to take the afternoon off. :)

Preston coming in at 13 per. So 16, 13, 5 = 34 mil. Cut perry and that is enough for the draft.

Perry will be gone. Clay could still be back at a small deal as an ILB. I think Clay will get more elsewhere though. Fine.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

These are great signings, though of course gotta see verified price.
Younger guys who are unlikely to slip, deliver average to good, more consistent play.

Obviously gives us more draft flexibility too. Look at OLB a little later in a deep draft for it.

And we had to get something at safety. Love the price for Amos, especially after watching some other guys wildly overpaid.

I'm told free agent LB Preston Smith is going to Green Bay on a 4-year deal worth $52M. $16M fully guaranteed at signing. Smith choices came down to the #Colts and the #Packers, per source.

That's not too bad - 16 mil guaranteed? they can back load that, and lower this years cap hit big time if they want to sign more FA's.

All those deals will be back end loaded, so figure 12 mil this year for Zadarius, 10 mil for Preston, and 4 mil for Amos. Assume Perry is gone.

If you keep Graham, leaves you with $6 mil. Cut Graham you get to $11 mil. I think Graham is gone (or possibly re-worked, he has a roster bonus that makes his deal this year look terrible).

Love the action so far. Gives us a ton of flexibility in the draft. Nice work so far

Making me wish there was better offensive talent in the draft.

I think they'll be front end loaded. P Smith is reportedly getting 27.5 mil the first two years per Ian Rappaport.
