Now that we got some edge rushers, I am salivating at the prospect of getting White or Oliver at #12. So much pressure coming from all angles.

Me too, those two specifically. That said I think if we had to "settle" for Bush we'd all be very happy with who we got a year from now.

If we pull of Ingram on top of all of this, that would make us scary with a lot of draft capital.

This is actually monster news. Being able to get out with minor dead cap after 1 season is very nice.

Amos needs a cover safety who is a ballhawk next to him. He came into his own when the Bears drafted Eddie Jackson......a guy I begged us to draft.

A couple of suggestions:
Move Josh Jackson to S and draft Gardner-Johnson to play slot corner
Or
Draft Deionte Thompson
Or go for the wildcard and take Adderly

IF all else fails re-sign breeland

Preston Smith's deal is only fully guaranteeing the $16 million signing bonus too. Again, I'm interested in seeing what these cap hits are because all four of them seem to be pretty cap friendly with the details released so far.

Without looking at the guaranteed moneys, These signings feel similar to the Herb Kohl era Bucks free agent signings. Hella overpay for some pretty meh talent. I can get down with the Amos signing, but the rest seem a bit of a reach based on potential rather than consistent production.

I've read they are the favorites but haven't seen any reported agreement.

Big difference is we can cut these guys in a year or two with very little cap issues. In the NBA these type of contracts kill you. In the NFL you can pay for potential, because if it doesn’t work out you just cut em and try again.

Yup. Basically even if you really **** up and get to cap hell you really only have one year of pain and dead cap.

Watching some clips of Z'adarius Smith with the Ravens, a lot of his pressures actually came from him lined up inside on passing downs instead of him coming off the edge.

Cap hits for 2019 are known for everyone but Za'Darius Smith now:

$5.4M - Amos
$5.35M - Preston Smith
$3.9M - Turner

Man, if Za'Darius Smith's hit is only around $5 million, we're gonna have around $20 million in space still.

Is that with factoring in the $10m or so we have to set aside for the draft?

Ball is legitimately an NFL salary cap wizard. People who freak out over these deals really have no clue how these are structured. Each one of these deals looks fantastic from a cap flexibility perspective.

No, so probably closer to $10 million. But if Graham was cut, that number climbs back up.

If all the guaranteed money is in the signing bonus I'm pretty sure then cutting after one year would result in close to a 7 million dollar cap hit from the accelerated cap hit. Better if some of the guarantees are in roster bonuses that can be avoided

That said Ball is a wizard so I'm expecting outs on all these deals after 2 years. Its mostly about whether u wanted to use the two years on these guys in particular.

I think we'd be unhappy that we didn't get Oliver.
