I’ve read a few Broncos blogs that are pretty high on him.

https://predominantlyorange.com/2019/03/12/green-bay-packers-getting-ol-billy-turner/

After battling through some injuries, Turner finally got the chance to show what he could do in 2018 and earned this new contract with strong play both as a pass protector and run blocker.

Despite playing multiple positions on an injury-riddled line, Turner allowed just three sacks in over 800 total snaps and in my opinion, he did his best work as a pass protector as a tackle.

To show just how far he has come, Turner was cut in Miami after allowing three sacks…in a single game.

He has clearly developed and is on pace to become the player many thought he could be coming from the NDSU program.

well, he rolled the dice 4 times. Hitting on 2 would be middle ground.

tbh, I don't like what they did, but the packers obviously know more about the players than I do. So, I'll defer to their judgement until it's proven wrong.

Sounds like they have their eyes on someone else if they were willing to forgo future savings to get that instant 3 mil in space.

Looking ahead to 2020, Rodgers cap number goes up $6 million. UFA Kenny Clark, Bulaga, Spriggs, Daniels, Lowry, Fackrell, Martinez, Tramon, Crosby. Clark is the only one that is a lock to resign (assuming he wants to stay). Daniels turns 30 in a few weeks. I think Fackrell was a one year (actually 2 game) wonder. Martinez played well last year I'd probably try to keep him. Bulaga might not be around anyway. Crosby has bounced back before, he'll turn 35 in September.

ERFA Kumerow and Tonyan could be kept if they perform this year.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I prefer not to wait. you are putting next a hit on next years cap. If they aren't looking at another HUGE deal then take the hit this y ear and hope they can sign other free agents next year. They still have options this year as well (can cut tramon and save about 4.5 mil or restructure crosby and save a few mil). that being said with out those and signing picks, from all the indications on the low cap hits of these new free agents, they could have almost 10 mil before the cuts of tramon/crosby restructure. They have options :-).

I'm not sure what you mean. If we wait, we have to eat some of that cap hit on next year's cap sheet. If they don't think they need more cap room this year, it would make more sense to eat it now. On the other hand, designating him June 1 gives them an extra few million to work with right now.

Well, at least if these FAs signings don't pan out, we can release them next season without much impact and Perry's contract won't disturb any FA signing next offseason. Also, we have one year to test our rookies and set the priorities for next season.

Amos is the best safety we have had since Collins. This is a huge upgrade over the likes of HCD, Brice, Burnett, Williams etc.

I keep on seeing this but not sure why some are assuming this. If they release these guys next year they do take big cap hits, that is what happens with signing bonuses. It won't be Nick Perry huge, but could be significant especially if more than one was cut next offseason.

Because people are confusing "next year" with "in 2 years"

In any case we wont really know till the details come out

Worked all day to come home to all this news. What a great day. Still would like to see Ingram on a cheap deal at RB.

More to come hopefully? Still would draft OLB at #12 and TE at #30

   to The Smiths + Amos, just terrific stuff. Gute showing the world that he ain't no Ted. Now dive into the draft, going BPA without hesitation.

BUT. $28M for Billy **** Turner? Did Gute get drunk after the three other signings?

Looks like the Packers are doing the player a solid as well. Seems Perry can pass a physical, so it wouldn't look great to hold him hostage until June.
