Can this be done with the 4th year a team option? Guarantee him more than 19 mil over the first 3 years, so he has more security, and the last year can be picked up later?

If you can get him to agree (with or without the TO) that would be great but I don't see why a guy his age would give up on $19m for a 4/44 kind of deal. If he could make 4/44 now, he could probably make 4/44 next off season. For him to agree to something long term (and reduce our cap figure this off season) he's probably going to need closer to 4/60 to be worth his time.

This. all the valleyboyz fun, and stuff ends when the offseason starts, and the money hungry agents are cramming get every $ they can down their throats. which they're entitled to, get every $ you can.

I hope it would be 4/44 for Tyler Johnson, that's solid value for a good piece like him. a fringe starter/great bench guy.

Honestly, I hated the trade and tore it to shreds on here but right now I'm more than happy with a fringe starter/great bench guy on a 1 year deal.

Kind of ironic that the crafty vet who was suppose to help the young guys play the right way on a 1yr deal that we were hoping for wasn't Ariza but one Tyler Johnson

Yeah if he keeps up this level of play his contract is sort of a non issue even if it is $20m. He's been about as good as we could hope for, even better, really. And it's not like anyone would take him before the trade deadline next year anyway, so we just gotta roll with whatever he gives us.

Sounds a lot like Bridges and Warren when asked about starting. I like it.

There's only one word to describe Tyler Johnson: KEEPER

I like what Tyler brings and I think most people like Tyler as a player. The only thing going against him is that he's excessively overpaid which just drops his value in the eyes of many NBA fans. But once his current deal runs out and he's re-upped onto something more reasonable, I think his value can only go up

Yep, I think he's a rock solid NBA player who can be a spot starter at either guard spot...Reality is, he's the key salary to us landing a disgruntled star though

Pretty wild that we turned Knight into Anderson into Tyler. That’s huge upgrade by itself. If Tyler is the salary piece that allows us to trade for a star then it will be one hell of a ride.

I won’t be too interested in re-signing him next offseason (though I do like him) unless we are more competitive than expected. If we aren’t trading him I’d rather just keep the space open for ‘21 offseason. I’d prefer not to tie up too much money on the bench at the expense of upgrading the starting lineup.

He's going to be really good coming off the bench this season. Honestly, I think he's only a notch below Rubio skill wise. Smart player that can defend and plays within his capabilities.
