Klay has lived on the west coast his entire life... He is not coming to Philly. Get the pipe dreams of him or Durant out of your head. Neither will ever even consider coming here. Kawhi is going to the Clips.

Re: Summer 2019 Free Agency Thread
I'd probably just bring most of the guys back and see if I could get a capable 3+D starter at guard to move JJ into a 6th man role. I love what JJ does for this team, but if you were to put a point of attack defender that can hit open stand still jumpers in his place, I feel like the pieces slide into place better. Jimmy and Ben no longer have deal with those pesky pick and roll PGs and can wreak havoc on the wings, while having one less weapon offensively could make Jimmy a little more aggressive looking for his own shot.

Ariza is washed and the guard rotation is way too shallow with two rookies being your 3 and 4th options.
I'm actually not opposed to signing Noah for a minimum contract. He's been decent defensively this year and as a locker room guy he fits like a glove. Would be a fantastic mentor for Bolden as well.

All I know right now is that you can't give Jimmy a 5-188 deal.

Re: Summer 2019 Free Agency Thread
Resign Tobias (no-brainer) for 5 years - if possible around 28 million per year (5 year - 140 million)
Try to resign on cheap and short deals (max 3 years for Scott/TJ, 2 years for JJ)
JJ Reddick
Mike Scott
TJ McConnell
Targets in free agency with money that's left from not resigning Jimmy Butler, all on 2 year (Gay) max 3 year (Vonleh, Green) deals:
Danny Green
Noah Vonleh
Rudy Gay
PG: Ben Simmons - TJ McConnell - rookie or Milton
SG: JJ Reddick - Zhaire Smith - Danny Green
SF: Danny Green - Rudy Gay - Mike Scott
PF: Tobias Harris - Mike Scott - Noah Vonleh
C: Joel Embiid - Noah Vonleh - Jonah Bolden
If you look at the depth and fits you could add, the best thing to acknowledge is that resigning Jimmy Butler would be a bad idea.

His role isn't going to change so his impact won't change either. He's routinely not in plays for the first 3 quarters, sometimes sitting in the corner and sometimes just way beyond the 3pt line, part of it is creating space, part of it probably him not liking his role. I do think some of his passing when he could be shooting is in response to being asked to be a distributor/role player till the 4th quarter.
If he walks it'll be a talent drop off for Philly (although not utilized well) plus it could strengthen another team in the East for the next 4-5 years.

Jimmy's recent 'reported' injuries;
Dec: Groin
Jan: Wrist 'sprain'
Mar: Back
I don't think he's recovered from these. Hasn't moved the same since the groin.
He's getting blocked on drives often.
Reluctant to shoot the ball ?
If he does a calf muscle next we'll know he's old.

Re: Summer 2019 Free Agency Thread
No Jimmy! He's not worth the max. A matter of fact he's not a good fit here.
Tobias is a perfect fit and is worth near the max or whatever it is market value to retain him longterm.
This team needs a scoring point guard that can fill /upgrade JJ Redick's role long term.
i think a scoring point guard like Kemba Walker would be perfect here. He's worth the luxury tax and should age well like Kyle Lowry has. Kemba and Zhiare > Redick and Tj .
If Kemba unattainable I would go after Bognanovic from indiana and Lamb both 3pt shooters who can defend a little. I would offer them long term deals. Gay would be interesting too.

Re-sign Tobias Harris. See If you can get him for 5/125 million, but if you have to go to 150, so be it.
Resist making an offer to Jimmy Butler, but keep the door open for a chance at a sign-and-trade with someone.
I would like JJ Redick back, but I'm no longer married to the idea. If I'm letting Butler go, I may need to renounce Redick's 18 million dollar cap hold to sign a replacement for Butler/Covington. Then try to sign Redick with the MLE.
Free agent targets:
Danny Green
Wes Matthews
Al Farouq Aminu
Noah Vonleh
K Caldwell-Pope

I've been thinking about potential S&T options for Jimmy Butler, but it's really not that easy.
It has to be a franchise that's capped, has matching value contracts, is interested in adding a 30-year old Butler and has the interest of Butler himself.
Butler's "wish list" included the Knicks, Nets and Clippers. Except for the Clippers none of those teams have the salaries to match Butler's 0.8*32.7 contract, so it can't be a scenario in which they sign a superstar and make an additional S&T for Butler. Only Gallinari + Shai (or other combination of young guys) is a trade that's viable.
Two dark horses are Portland and the Heat. CJ McCollum's contract can be traded straight up. If they lose in the 1st round once again they might be interested in Butler since it offers them a capable wing to pair with Lillard and Nurkic. Heat were interested earlier in the year and have the matching contracts with Richardson/Olynyk/etc. Whether Butler is interested in them is a different question.

Beverley is a good option too.

I don't want CJ McCollum. You'd just being paying the max and strangling your flexibility for a much worse player. I'd just pay Butler, if that was the choice.
I'd happily do a sign and trade for Josh Richardson and Olynyk though.

Lol yall Butler detractors just won't give up, will you?
the big four have only played FIVE GAMES together and even when you take that out of the mix Jimmy has been great at getting his team mates involved whilst also contributing In all areas himself. And yet people are baying for his blood to get who exactly? Richardson? Smh. Yall need to get ovet it. We're very likely to have the best starting five In the whole league next season If we keep this group together, and thankfully Elton seems to understand that this group are not just for this year, but for next year too where they should be even better with more games under their belt. Too many "forum gm's" think they know all the answers when they really don't. We're NOT gonna get a better starting five than this unless Kawhi wants in, it's as simple as that.

Oh I don't even know if I'd do it, just stating how hard it was to find potential trade partners. In theory Jimmy Butler provides us some perimeter defense we desperately need, CJ McCollum would also hurt us in that aspect.

Agree on not signing Butler. Certainly not to a MAX. He made a mistake turning down his previous offers, his game has slipped.

To be fair, any lineup with Embiid, Simmons, Redick and two solid NBA players have been fantastic over the last 2 years. Whether that's Dario Saric, Robert Covington, Tobias Harris or Jimmy Butler.
It's about us getting to the next level in which we also remain our effectiveness against the elite teams AND have enough depth to be competitive in staggered lineups. It may be that our current roster is sufficient, but if we're not allowed to discuss potential improvement, what are we doing on this forum?
