Some KD and Kyrie truth from Charles:
https://www.boston.com/sports/boston-celtics/2019/03/13/charles-barkley-kyrie-irving-kevin-durant-new-york-toughness
In a long podcast interview with Kyrie and JT this week, Kyrie kept talking about wanting JT by his side when he wins his next championship, however--so he may be coming around to the option of staying in Boston if Danny can swing a KD or AD (but keeping Tatum) deal.

If we can trade for AD without losing Tatum, ugh.cloverleaf wrote:Some KD and Kyrie truth from Charles:

Maybe KD is the goal

I don't think Kyrie is conditioning a trade for AD or KD, for him to stay in Boston. He wants to maximize the potential of this team, and that's what lead to his frustrations this season. Most of it was really towards Stevens, but he took it on the young guys. That's why he apologised to them recently, but i still think he is frustrated with Brad.

Yeah right ...like the battle royal between main stream media and Fox news hasn't created enough misery and conflict already?

“I see the same thing in what me and [Tatum] talk about now. We’re six years apart. And I try to tell him, I’m like, look: ‘I’m a liason between all of this… Whatever you need me to do. I’ll get out your way once you get to that point [of greatness]. You go ahead. This is yours. You want it? Go take it.’ And I tell J as well: ‘Me and you in this, going for the guts and glory. When it’s all on the line? I know I need you right next to me. So let’s get this thing going.’ I have a different relationship with all of my teammates but specifically with him, how special he is.” : irving.

Re: The Kyrie support thread - he still bleeds green
This part of the conversation began with a group discussion about working out with Kobe Bryant. From there, they discussed Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal winning championships together on the Los Angeles Lakers.
After that, they spoke about Irving’s time playing alongside LeBron James on the Cleveland Cavaliers. Irving said that the ridiculously dominant nature of their dynamic led him to recently ask James for advice about “being part of a great duo” with Tatum in Boston.
Irving continued, talking as if he and Tatum will be starring alongside each other for years to come, which is exactly what fans in Boston want to hear (via Knuckleheads):
“I see the same thing in what me and [Tatum] talk about now. We’re six years apart. And I try to tell him, I’m like, look: ‘I’m a liason between all of this… Whatever you need me to do. During the podcast, it became increasingly clear that the relationship between Irving and Tatum is really strong.
At this point I’d love to know... If it was solely up to Kyrie.....which players on the current roster besides apparently Tatum would Kyrie want on the team next year. If he were realgm, do you think he’d gut the team? The only other guy I feel safe guessing would be Smart, but even then I’m not 100%.
“There’s a sense of pride, there’s an edge you have to have to play here. I can only imagine the love, the reception, if you hung one of those banners up. It would be incredible — it’s going to be incredible. I know it.” —Jayson Tatum

Sounds to me like Irving would prefer keeping Tatum and going after KD then losing Tatum and getting AD.

ParticleMan wrote:it's a lot easier to manage egos and emotions than it is to acquire guys with kyrie's talent. brad hasn't really faced this before, and he hasn't done great at managing this. don't discount the behind-the-scenes work done by ainge here. danny understands these things a lot better than most, having lived through the bird/mchale ego battles.
my feeling is that kyrie genuinely wants to be great, he wants to be a leader, he wants all this but he still lack maturity in some ways. he is honestly trying to work through it, but it doesn't come naturally and it hasn't been easy for him.
i don't think this is the last flare-up we will see of this kind from this team. there will still be some ups and downs, especially when we lose a close game or two. let's just hope kyrie and the team have matured by going through this season, and they can band together in the playoffs and keep supporting each other no matter what. we will get there, it's just a matter of time.
I’m an Ainge fan but he traded Robert shorty (and my namesake!) for a way past his prime Cedric Ceballos (and Rumeal Robinson lol) because Horry threw a towel in his face and screamed him down on the sideline of a national game. Word was Ainge had lost that team so it’s not like he’s perfect in this respect either.
Hey Man, nice shot!

Honestly if I was a Knicks fan this would make me less sure anything significant is going to happen this offseason. Clearing the cap space by trading your best player is smoke. Coming out and saying "we hear big things are in the works" isn't really smoke, it's....marketing I guess?
Big moves aren't usually telegraphed in this league. Not that they can't be (LeBron's LA move was pretty well known in advance) but it's not the norm. Dolan's also such a jackass that anything he says most people just assume the opposite is going to happen.

Do you think James Dolan even has the faintest clue about what is happening?

He probably hears what it is his management team hears.

Not much love for the rest of their team, pretty much all about their two-man Duke bond.

As if NYers weren't already cynical enough, it's got to be tough to be a pro sports fan down there in recent years...
