Begged for finds like this during the Lob City era. We had to spend the time trying to buy guys like Geoff Green.

I wonder what 2013-2017 would be like if we had a similar front office at the helm.

Is that what Philly did to get him?

Clippers’ Landry Shamet is more than a shooter – but he gets the point

“It’s funny, people watching me now would probably think I’m a completely different person from last year,” said the 6-foot 5 Shamet, whom the Clippers acquired in the trade with Philadelphia that included Tobias Harris in February. “I was a point guard last year, and that’s all I did, play on the ball. I didn’t run off all these pin-downs. I was doing that growing up and stuff, but I know what I can bring and what I’ll hopefully develop into in this league.”

Said Clippers head coach Doc Rivers of Shamet’s previous prowess at point: “We knew that, but you’re still not sure, you gotta get the guy in and see if he actually can do it. He’s not a ‘point,’ but he can play that position, if you know what I mean? It’s nice to have another ball handler on the floor, and he’s able to do that.”

I’m more into the playoffs, experiencing the playoffs the first time, finding ways to help the team win, other than just shooting the ball,” said Shamet, who is averaging 11.2 points per game for the Clippers and shooting 45.6 percent from deep on 6.4 attempts per game.

“I think shooting night in and night out, like I’ve told you guys before, if I could control it, I would. If I could make all the shots I take (I would), but I’m more focused on the other aspects, getting better defensively, making my teammates better.”

Luckily BC is gone. Dude was awful at GM.

You guys won this trade hands down, btw. And are going to make the playoffs with strong contributions from the kids. Still pissed at Brand for pulling the trigger, but that's what you get when you take (even a cheap) risk on a locker room cancer.

When it's time to jones on Hinkie specifically, he refers to Hinkie by name. Can't miss the contempt.

When it's things Hinkie hasn't done, such as BC trading up to get a bust in Fultz or even good things like Brand's regime drafting Sham, he goes broad and vague. Specific GMs didn't do it no more. "Philly" drafted Fultz. It's his subtle way of showing that he doesn't want anything Hinkie did to turn out successful or contribute to any success in Philly.

Pretty much the whole league passed on Shamet. Including us, and Jerry West. That's the point here. And Philly passed on Shai. Even at best projection, Zhaire was far more a project, a 6'4" power forward. Rome remains a suspect as much as a project as well, whereas Philly had quite a stroke of luck with Shamet, who's far ahead or Rome at the moment.

Not the point and is nowhere near what we were discussing.

you don't have a point
everybody wants "finds"

we had the smallest scouting department in the league and no budget and crap draft picks

anyone we "missed out on" was someone the whole league missed too

that said, I'm fine with Doc being moved out of the top job
and in retrospect, so is he

Damn good stuff here Ranma

The Clippers need a starting quality SF to make some real noise in the playoffs. Due to how crazy close the playoffs seedings are and how the Clippers actually have a legit shot at the a #5 seed, its hard to find the mins to give to Chandler to get his sea legs back. However i think it's still worthwhile, give Chandler a chance and if it pans out, maybe the Clips can shock the world now that their roster's biggest hole is patched up.
