Cool, But Not Cool Enough
Lou Williams gets a buzzer beating game winner. Cool. But not cool enough.
What's cool enough? A Sudden Death Shot.
He got it when the game was tied. Can he do the same shot under the same circumstances but when the team is down one or two points and the score does not result in a tie? If it's a one, gotta make a two; if it's a two, gotta make a three. I've yet to see this Clippers team - blue collar, resilient and all - make the kind of shots that LeBron, Kobe, hell, even Griffin were able to make. Remember this one in 2017?
There will be games where the win is right within their grasp, but the 1-point margin can be quite misleading. I like those shots because they have the power to become X-factors. They can still win by committee, but when the score is close and a beatable deficit requires a Sudden Death Shot to win, somebody is going to man up. Say if Lou Williams is injured, fouled out or gets ejected from a game - who's next after Gallinari and Shamet? Will Shai take the shot, Beverley, or is it Chandler?
All I'm just saying is, when the situation arises, the Clippers will have to be prepared for any and every situation possible.

I think it was plenty good enough. It was perfectly done IMO. Huge props to Lou. He made the shot that was called for in that situation. I do not think Chandler gets the ball in that situation. Gallo has made those types of shots before in his career. I think Doc would have faith in Bev and Shamet as well. I think Doc has 4 choices before it would go to SGA. I thought it was a very good drawn up play. If Lou felt covered he probably would have given it right back to Gallo. Lou has tremendous confidence to take that shot from that distance. The coaches and players really believe in him as well.

Is it strange that I think the Clippers might be able to beat the Rockets?
