We'll find out at the NBA combine when all of the players are measured. Playing against NBA caliber
players will force him to have to make adjustments for he will have to develop a perimeter game.

That is to say, he isn't pounding the ball and having the entire team run through him. There is a long highlight reel of him online and something like 90% of the plays are ones where he has the ball for less than 2 seconds.

I think that if a team tries to run their entire offense through him, they will be disappointed. If someone else runs the offense and Zion just is free to run around and get quick post ups, lobs, catch and drive, etc. stuff I think he will put up big numbers on huge efficiency and have epic on off based numbers but at the same time, he will have a vocal group of detractors who call him out for not being a traditional isolation scorer.

I strongly disagree with those who don't think he has a good basketball IQ. For his age, its off the charts and yeah, his motor is crazy too. I have been watching basketball for a very long time and never seen anything like him.
Well said. I've also been watching ball for a very long time now and I have never seen such speed and sheer ferocity at his size and strength ever. I know that sounds wierd but I've seen my fair share of players over the decades now and its shocking to see him change direction with such speed and strength it's almost as if I'm watching the next evolution of a human being physically.

I've audibly gasped a few times watching him play it's so insane.

The only thing I'm worried about is if his tendons and cartilage can take the massive abuse hes going to put on them.

Because he's been measured at 6-5.5 without shoes. But if we use that standard, then we should subtract 2 inches from nearly every player in the league.

I absolutely hate the concept of measuring in shoes, but if we are going to accept it, we should at least be consistent.

Justise Winslow's barefoot measurement was 6-4.5 at the NBA combine, but he's listed at 6-7.

Listed heights in basketball are a joke to begin with, but Zion's "NBA Height" will not be below 6-7.

I've already said and agreed with others on his potential, again my favorite thing about him is his motor and relentless desire to get better.

I like that he is always working to improve skill wise and still be ruthlessly efficient with the high percentage play each time.

Jordan used to be very efficient and made the correct play quickly, he not only has the physical gifts but his intelligence on the court and decision making is awesome at this stage as well.

Just for fun, his ACC tournament highlights are out, enjoy.

I'm fairly confident, with his build, skillset at a young age, and desire, he's a Hall of Famer if he stays mostly healthy.

Sadly, I don't think he's going to stay mostly healthy. Still, if you can get 800 NBA games out of him, he'll be well worth the #1 pick.

I'd clearly take him #1 and don't see a way he's not at least a solid NBA player but relax people and try to remember that he's going to have to play on the wing in the NBA due to his height and remember he just won't be able to bully everyone in the NBA as tons of guys can physically bang with him. We'll likely never see a phenom at LBJs level in our lifetimes.

Him in h.s compared to lebron in h.s. Is definitely comparable....
If rookie lebron was about to get drafted right now...

It would be the same convo with Zion
No a terrfic shooter or free throw shooter
Work on ball handling

Difference is bron was a better passer at that time but wasn’t fully developed physically
Zion is already nba ready...body wise and athletically...while not the passer he’s a better defender than young lebron and he has a post game...
Pay your beals....or its lights out!!!
Bron, Bosh, Wade is like Mike, Hakeem, barkley...3 top 5 picks from same draft
mike, hakeem and Barkley on the same team!!!!

We'll see. Joel Embiid was thought to have the same concerns and he seems fine now.

I was going to say a Julis Randle mixed with LeBron but maybe just comparing him to two all time greats is the right move

The English he put on that LONG chest bounce pass to RJ at 1:25 was freakin' perfect. Bounced BACK and up to hit RJ at chest height while running.

He then serves up one for Cam at 3:25 with a nice lefty wrist flick bounce.

That's not counting his Sportscenter highlighted cross-court bounce pass at 9:32 and other assists in the highlights.

People are seriously underrating this kid's passing skills.

While I don't if you will be right or wrong, I hope he ends with a coach capable of good minutes managment.
Denver's are always upset with jokic's minutes but I always liked malone approach: is better to lose some games (even tho 2 years ago cost us a po apparance) than risk an injury to your best player.

Is Zion going to sit out the NCAA tournament?

Post#333 » by BigtimeNBAfan » Tue Mar 19, 2019 6:30 pm

When Zion got hurt, everybody said finishing the season was meaningless and would only hurt him. So is he going to now sit out the meaningless ncaa tournament and rest those knees for the NBA combine?

Meaningless? The Tournament?

What great character Zion would be showing to his future employer and fans if he decided to ditch his friends and teammates at this point in the season. Sometimes, just sometimes, money isn’t everything my friend.

**** character he'd be showing his intelligence. His ability to suppress his impulses and think long term.

He's not doing the combine either.

What's the combine doing for Zion?
What's the NCAA Torny doing for Zion?
Hell what's the draft gonna do for Zion? Just sign as a FA.
& Summer League? Why bother playing?
Preseason? Shaw. Gotta watch that load management.

What is not meaningless anymore? Of course he should & will play. He's the biggest amateur basketball player in the world right now.

Yep, I'm not working for free. Basketball isn't just a game to him it's a career.

Why should he? Why should he play any summer league? Preseason games? **** regular season too. All star weekend? Laughable. National team? **** them. He should only play elimination games in the playoffs. No practice either.

This is what we're going to end up with very soon.
