Zion Williamson in the NBA?

Believe it or not, Zion may actually care about playing in the tournament for his teammates, coaches, and Duke fans --- not to mention for his own love of the game. He's not living in a vacuum where the only consideration is long-term money.

He just played in the ACC Tournament. Why the **** wouldn't he play in the NCAA Tournament?

Even if he tore his ACL tomorrow he's still gonna be the #1 pick. Long term money what? This ain't the NFL. These deals got the G next them.

At the absolute worst case scenario for him, he has $40mil in NBA contract money + whatever shoe & endorsements he gets for the 4 years.

Long term money? That's damn sure long term money for most.

Yeah sit out 3/4 of the rookie deal - just play the final season before RFA - do amazing - get the rose rule max extension deal. Sit out half of that deal until the last two seasons so he can get All NBA at least one of them and sign supermax. Play a couple seasons of that....get one more extension - after that is signed, never play again. No need to have discomfort and soreness in retirement. Basically make $700M+ in NBA money for 5 seasons of actual work.

I swears that’s what many advocate on here, but then they give players crap for not playing their best once they sign a big deal. Smh.

For everyone saying not to play.... you know what he'd be doing if he didn't play? Playing hoops somewhere. It is what these guys do. The NBA guys play pick up and pro-ams in the summer. Those are meaningless games they play for free. You gotta keep hooping. If he didn't play in the tourney he isn't just gonna go sit on his couch and watch. He'd be playing somewhere to get ready for the NBA. Why not do it on a huge stage and become even more of a can't miss guy and bump up the shoe deal while you're at it?

Zion seems to genuinely enjoy the spectacle and putting on a show for everyone, so I'd bet he plays.

20 years from now, NBA players will be playing 25 minutes per game at 60 games per season at $100 million per season contracts.

Clearly Zion wants to play. He was practically throwing up middle fingers in his post game interview after winning the ACC tourney to anyone suggesting he sit out. At some point all this discussion about what's supposedly best for Zion is more about preconceived feelings/bias about the NCAA than about what's actually best for Zion. When did everyone get to be so selfish?

The NCAA is an exploitative scam. I hope he skips. MY unrealistic dream every year is that the one and done/senior players on final four clubs walk off the court and refuse to play the games, embrassing the NCAA scumbags on national tv. The NCAA gets paid a billion dollars to broadcast the tournament and they have the audacity to claim this is amateur athletics. Screw that
