It would have to be someone between 19-22, or one of the future HS to NBA pros who comes in and averages crazy numbers at 18.

For a sport with so much contact and injury can happen any game even in practice, there would have to be injury provisions a la Embiid if the contract is that long.

Never have been and never will be a GM, but there is no player in the world I'm signing for 10+ years.

It's crap like that, which further reinforces why I don't watch baseball anymore and ultimately it'll most likely drive a wedge between my desire to be a fan of any sport after a while. I understand the pot has to be spread around, but nothing these guys do is ever worth these crazy sums. Literally is just "stupid" money.

I blame the fans for most of this.

He's arguably the GOAT. That contract might be long, but the AAV is only ~$35 million.

John Wall’s currently making more a year than Trout. If there was no cap on years/dollars in the NBA, tons of players would be worth this amount. AD, Giannis, Joker, for sure. Probably more.

Um, it's pretty hilarious how ironic this is.

Lebron is criticized for his lack of winning, yet you think Trout will be the GOAT when he hasn't even won a playoff game and he's 28 years old.

Not saying that Trout might not be the goat, but the arguments against LBJ can literally go against Trout except 10x harder.

Trout is well worth that kind of money considering his production and the average MLB salary.

That's not how baseball works.

It's actually not how basketball works either, yet we still count rings.

And yes, everyone in the world is aware that one basketball player impacts a game more than one baseball player, that isn't the point if you're going to go there.

People are paying too much attention to the sum and not the annual.

A player like Giannis will probably make over 430 mil the next 10 years, barring injury or steep decline.

The guy is arguably the best player since Mickey Mantle, well deserved.

Towns 23 years old sign what a 5/190... he'll prob would get max again if not super max. so i guess 12/430 would be a discount.

Good example. Wolves would jump at the chance to have Towns signed for 12/430 instead of 5/190 right now if it were CBA legal.

He's that good...

not even close. so you're saying betts, judge, arenado should be getting 60-70 million a year? thats just players i can think of right now. im pretty sure theres at least 20 players that avg at least 4+ war in there career.

well of course...it's 'only' 35mil a year...I mean Kevin fricking Love is almost making that the next 3 years lol

Yeah, i'm just answering the question though. NBA no one is getting signed for 12 years in this era.

I have just this mental image of one of these "unhappy" superstars signing 600 million deal for 12 years, 2 years into contract throwing hissy fit and sitting out rest of the season, and talking on some show how they don't like direction the team is going.
