But doesn’t seem to be on the bench?

Guess the “strength in numbers” or “being a good teammate” is too corny for him?

Lmao I can't believe the guy is doing this on another title run.

Easy with those pitch forks. He may be getting treatment, or the team may have granted him some time completely away from the team to refresh a little.

Nah you're right, players not sitting on the bench on rest days aren't that out of the ordinary.

I do think the media is making it look worse than it really is.

Lol no but really a lot of fans are doing it too. KD has always been one of those dudes who is really hard to gauge.

KD answers a few question about his legacy, says I goes way beyond the NBA.

https://www.nbcsports.com/bayarea/warriors/kevin-durant-qa-warriors-star-addresses-legacy-why-nba-wont-fulfill-him?mi_u=438C0C21-0AEF-428F-AB31-4A3274DAA73A

Ok but you will have a ton of time after your playing days are over. Right now, you’re in your athletic prime. You only care about possession by possession?

Ok but up you win most possessions. What do all those possessions amount to? A basket, a blocked shot, an assist, etc. No players pursue those just as ends in themselves. A player doesn’t achieve all the wins, scoring titles, awards and yes championships having such narrow focus or tunnel vision.

He’s going to have to hire a great writer when he posts the inevitable Players Tribune article announcing his decision. The writer may polish up the mumbo jumbo but it’s still going to be an expression of the narcissism these players acquire as they use their “platform.”

That’s everywhere except NY and LA. So basically you’re saying he’s only going to the Knicks or Clippers? He already said playing with Lebron is too much of a circus so it’s not the Lakers. This “playing in a big market” cliche needs to die. It doesn’t really exist anymore. Besides Lebron, not a single star has signed in either of those cities since Amare Stoudamire, and I’m sure Lebron signed on thinking he’d be playing with PG13 or AD right now.

I do think Kyrie will go to the Knicks though. Him and DSJ together is going to be hilarious.

Another outdated cliche that needs to go away is “just wait till the NY media gets a hold of him!” In regards to KD or anyone else. Teams in NY don’t have 20 beat writers like they used to and the NY media is a bunch of panty wastes. Uh oh, here’s come Marc Berman and Stefan Bondy with the hard hittin questions, watch out!

I don't know, if the Knicks manage to load up with top talent, the expectations will rise sharply and I suspect so will the criticism (and they'll hire more media people to hound them 24/7). Right now, there's not a lot of satisfaction in beating up on what everyone knows is a terrible team. The same thing has happened to the Warriors: 15 years ago no one cared if Dunleavy and Dampier got into a tiff, but now when it's KD and Draymond and there are championships on the line, it's international news that people overanalyze and get into heated arguments about for months.

One word to describe KD?

I’ll go with “exhausting” > “narcissistic“ by a hair

Only for those who hang on his every word. Some people just like to watch him on the court, believe it or not.

Kyrie and KD can team up and go to the Knicks for whatever reason they want...

Kyrie will be leaving one of his best situations, best chances of winning the East, to start over, with maybe another superstar or two in tow on a team with REALLY bad ownership. He will leave a team that went deep into the playoffs last season, without him.
A team that started to struggle when he came back...
KD would be leaving a team he won two championships with, and could conceivably stack a few more, because he wants to prove 15 year old bloggers wrong, he's not as sensitive as they think...

I don't think either of them appreciate how unique, rare, and special their current situations are...

from top to bottom Warriors and Celtics. Ownership management coaching roster... all pretty damn good, and very rare...

Well Kyrie is a New Yorker and he already left Lebron, so he could have gone to the Finals 3 or 4 more times./

KD, seems like he's still looking for something. His best friend is a big Knicks fan so he may feel that's what he wants, go to a new stage with his best friend, and Kyrie for the last years of his prime.

They may come to regret it after their careers are over, that they didn't maximize their chances to win titles.

But right now, they apparently don't care.

The only reason he leaves the Warriors is because he believes what people on the internet are saying about him and thinks he needs to prove himself elsewhere. He's already said the Finals wins did not satisfy him the way he thought they would. It's really sad if that is the case because he would be allowing other people's words to define him and effect his decisions..
Instead of taking advantage of the very rare opportunity right in front of him.
A chance to dig deeper, commit long term, get a few more rings, be that undeniable legend on a once in a century kind of team.

Looked disinterested against the Wolves.

He looked to pass the ball more than look for his own shot, including to role players like JJ. In the 4th quarter, he only took shot if shot clock was going to run out.

Seemed to be more connected to the team when he didn't play at Houston or OKC, congratulating Curry after those wins.

If he approaches the playoffs that way, what's the point? Doubtful that the Warriors want him to pass up shots so that he could pass to players like JJ or Cook. Even when he passes to Curry or Klay, they're not always resulting in assists because he's not playmaking but rather making pedestrian passes.

Agreed, I think it would take more of what those 15 year olds perceive to be "courage" to stay with GSW now.

I think he needs to understand that many of his detractors, particularly the fairly high percentage of them who are LeBron fans, were never fans of his and didn't and don't want him to succeed anywhere, being of the belief he should have accepted a destiny of being an outstanding player who could never beat LeBron, no matter what Lebron did himself in pursuit of rings.

I think you guys are missing the key here. He’s got that weird overly tall kid awkward sensitivity thing that we often see with big men. He’s an introvert and he’s lonely. What he seems to really want is to play and work with guys who are his friends. Russ was not his friend. Curry and Klay already have their own bond and he is apparently on the outside of it, certainly attributable to his own awkward weirdness and not necessarily due to them
excluding him but he has been an outsider here nonetheless. Draymond has exacerbated the distance. If he leaves it’s going to be over this friendship issue. He will go somewhere where he and friend(s) can build their own click. Winning, money, legacy, primacy really won’t have anything to do with it. He’s just a guy who hasn’t made enough adult friends and is pining for it. Weird, not my jam, but it is what it is
