2019 NBA Draft Thread
March Madness is upon us! Lets talk College Basketball and the Draft.

Kings Draft pick overview
The Kings own three 2nd round picks this year:
1) 2019 2nd from Orlando, Cleveland, or Houston (Second most favorable)
2) 2019 2nd from Minnesota or L.A. Lakers (more favorable)
3) 2019 2nd from Milwaukee. Three team pick swap (Sixers, Kings, Bucks)
The Kings traded away their own 1st and 2nd round draft picks. Remember, the Kings 2019 1st round pick is owed to Philadelphia or Boston. Sixers get the pick if its #1, Celtics get the pick if its more favorable than the Sixers pick but not #1 overall. The Kings 2nd round pick also goes to the Sixers. Simple, right?
What does this mean?
Currently the Kings are projected to have #40, #43, and #60 picks in the draft.

For tank purposes you should be rooting for Orlando and the L.A. Lakers to lose. Shouldn't be too hard for any of us here.

Three players I would target in the #40-43 range:
Aric Holman PF/C
Jalen McDaniels PF/SF
Admiral Schofield SF/SG
Aric Holman PF/C
Jalen McDaniels PF/SF
Admiral Schofield SF/SG

Isn’t the outgoing 2nd this year a swap? I think we have three 2nds (Milwaukee’s too, though a very late pick)
Still not happy we don’t have a first, though happy that it’s this particular year we don’t have one

You're right. Kings would get the Bucks 2nd which right now is #60 lol. I'll update the post in a few.BoogieTime wrote:Isn’t the outgoing 2nd this year a swap? I think we have three 2nds (Milwaukee’s too, though a very late pick)

Bring me a Tacko. He's got the feet speed to not be a liability at the next level and offensively you could run some of that Boban offense.

It seems like there are more than a few combo F's in the 2nd round as of now. PJ Washington and Eric Paschall would also be great gets in the 2nd. I'm not sure if they drop to 40 or lower though.

7'6 !! I havent checked out his tape yet but to hear you mention his foot speed at that height is encouraging.SacKingZZZ wrote:Bring me a Tacko. He's got the feet speed to not be a liability at the next level and offensively you could run some of that Boban offense.

Is this the year we draft our combo F? Too bad the picks are mid to late 2nds tho.SacKingZZZ wrote:City of Trees wrote:Three players I would target in the #40-43 range:

Washington plays today, I'll be keeping an eye on Mathisse Thybulle. Dude is a beast on the defensive end of the floor and can knock down the outside shot.

This is a bad draft so getting an upperclassmen 2nd rounder or 2 might not be a such a bad thing.

Re: 2019 College Basketball / NBA Draft Thread
I watched Tacko play tonight he moves well for 7'6". For a player that height you expect him to rebound, block shots, and get baskets around the rim. Tacko did just that.
I'm not so sure he can run within the Kings scheme tho....but for a 2nd round pick hell yes I draft him.

Re: 2019 College Basketball / NBA Draft Thread
This should be interesting trying to scrounge with all our seconds.
There are 3 things I'd like to try and get, maybe they work out, maybe not, but try.
1. An average shooter or better pg, really more important to be a facilitator, trueish pg. Maybe we get lucky and have a backup pg after some development on the cheap. This will probably be a senior.
2. Big body bruiser. Swanigan may or may not workout, so double our chances on the cheap.
3. Draft the most athletic full sized SF who looks like he can play some D
I won't be looking into things for a bit.
Also I'm open to trading Bogi for a prospect as well.

I really like Vlade's approach of stacking up multiple 2nds every year.
Utilize your G league team and two-way contracts.

Yeah Thybulle is probably my #1 target if we trade up.codydaze wrote:Washington plays today, I'll be keeping an eye on Mathisse Thybulle. Dude is a beast on the defensive end of the floor and can knock down the outside shot.

I think Aubrey Dawkins just jumped up into 1st round status on about 30 NBA teams boards.

Darius Bazley was five-star school prospect. And he's big 6'9" wing. I'd defenitely take a look on him. But he can easily jump into first round after workouts.
May be we can pack our 2nds for a late first round pick?

Re: 2019 College Basketball / NBA Draft Thread
I think my every year player I want to end up a King on draft night regardless of circumstances this year is Kenny Goins. Obviously I've been following the Spartans for a few years since I was a fan of Miles Bridges but I'm happy to see Goins finally get his chance to help his team win. He has that special thing all great role players have. I see some Robert Horry in him. He's turned into a terrific spot shooter, he defends whoever, rebounds when he needs to, and he's high IQ, high energy. I think this year might be a great year to have 2nd rounders to play with. There are a lot of 3-4 year players that are both decent prospects and can help now. I just hope we don't see some of the names in the 1st round right now swap into the 2nd. I like the players listed 30-50 better then most 1st rounders right now.
