Sure he could resign because we trade for AD giving us legit title hopes. He could resign because his father loved his time in Boston. He could resign because he still believes in Wyc, Danny and Brad as franchise leaders. He could resign because he's never had a better season statistically and showed people that he could be a complete lead guard. But..he could just resign to shut all these people up that assume that he's gonna duck and run. Shut up all these people that assume he can't lead a team to a title. Shut up all these people that assume he wants the bright lights of NYC. Shut up all these people that assume Boston is better without him. He could do it for those reasons too.
It's really bad.
I know plenty of Celtics fans who love Kyrie, mostly those in real life though. The internet wave though are pretty awful.
I would say on twitter and facebook, 95% of Knicks fans I have seen love Kyrie and support him. Which pains me. Also actually pains me that I have had better conversations about Kyrie/Celtics with NY fans and a Pacers fan I already have known for a few years online along with a Cavs fan I started to talk to this year from time to time.
Offline I do know a few NY fans though too due to proximity to NY.
Then I would see loads of "Celtics fans" who bash the guy non stop as if he has committed a real crime or something that should be held against him. I have had really a tough time reasoning with the Celtics portion with Kyrie who are already set on blaming him for everything that happens and scream to me about leadership and the Celtics way which sounds like a cult thing.
Also bizarre that when the Celtics this year do beat one of the teams without Kyrie (mostly it's often a lesser team) it's used against him fiercely. Raptors have won plenty without Kawhi, Pacers without Oladipo......but they don't seem to get quite the hate.
It's pretty bizarre. I can't say I am completely pleased with Celtics fans this year. I know expectations were higher but you can't always assume it's going to be handed to you in sports either or that you are entitled.
My folks are Celtics fans though who have never once blamed Kyrie for struggles. They often point to coaching this year.
