My draft:

Cam Reddish with Hawks’ pick
Jarrett Culver or Deandre Hunter wit Mavs’ pick

Lots of good prospects for the 2nd round:
Kabengele, Porter (slides), Clark, Paschall, Thybulle, King, etc...

They're both beasts around the rim.

I see Schlenk preferring Bruno because he's shown he can be an effective passer, and because he's shown some pretty decent handles for his size.

I been saying for awhile of all centers. Fernando and Hayes look like Hawks. Hayes plays similar to Collins but with all of the things Collins lacks like length and standing reach, more height, better frame, and lateral quickness and defensive awareness but does not get in the way of what Collins does on offense either.

While Hayes is a rim runner, he doesn't live in the paint on offense. His shot is very projectable and ceiling while system base is extremely high.

Fernando is a big who can pass and dribble and he is developing the shoot part. His shooting form isn't as clean as Hayes but it's in the same area code as Dedmon so it has potential. Maryland guys tend to fit our system. They tend to look for PDS types.

Hayes fits exactly what we need at the 5 defensively and well, Fernando doesn't sadly. Offensively, he would be the best fit. Defensively, Hayes might be the only ideal fit in this class. He covers a lot of areas of weaknesses for us long term.

Oh I said hey! (hey) you! (you) ... get into my hearrt.

@spud with the Billy Ocean reference? That'll earn you some cool points with 'Burd the self-described Caribbean Queen.

On topic, I wouldn't mind that draft although I'm not super-high on Reddish. I think he's a great prospect but would prefer to draft him in the teens. He'll need extensive development imho.

I don't like Cabengale, for what we need. He seems more like a gunner off the bench type. Useful but I'd prefer we took more defensive-minded guys.

 Bird loves Billy? Good to know! Who doesn’t love Billy?

Where is this Cam needs development coming from? If the guy played for Murray State he’d average a triple double. I think he’s ready, just my opinion.

Kabengele is an animal on the boards though, I think he’d be a great energy guy off the pine. His stock is climbing so I don’t think he’s a second rounder when it’s all said and done. He’s mid 20’s pick, maybe late first.

Kabs is more of a gunner on both ends. He isn't ready but teams like taking chances and he might be the next in line

I was looking at tape of Bol bol and how he is offensively. He seems miles ahead of any center in college . Along with the offense you'd have to think at 7 ft 2 he would be an intimidating factor in the paint. He seems to be very refined in his offensive game. Chance are if Hawks get the 5th pick the pick the pretty girl just like most want. Hopefully the Dallas pick is 6-8 then it will be interesting to see who Travis selects. Can't teach height and Bol bol could turn into an all star . Hawks have Huerter already and if Cam is drafted no playing time for Culver if he were the Dallas pick. I would take Bol bol or Clarke with the Dallas pick.

Here's the thing.

There are areas where players often see improvement once they get to the big show.

There are areas where players sometimes see improvement.

And there are areas where players rarely see any appreciable improvement.

This being one of those drafts where there really is no total package... apologies to the Zionists among us, but he's uniquely exceptional in some ways, but he's also lacking in some as well... the GMs have their work cut out for them to project even among the top 5 what's possible.

I think... think... Reddish has some raw talent that, at least, make it plausible that his ceiling could be elite... only plausible.

But barring a good trade offer on draft day/night, this is our last best chance to acquire an elite talent in the draft, which is still sitting there at #1 on the Schlenk path-to-a-championship checklist, seemingly still not checked off.

Hawks better watch out Dallas is tanking it only down 3 in the loss column after tonight. Hawks have 7 games left and the way they are playing 3 games can be made up. If Atlanta and Dallas tie who gets 5th pick?

Knowing that Ressler scolded Pudenholzer with a “WTF are you doing???” last year, I don’t foresee the Hawks passing the Mavs :noway:

I would imagine it's a coin flip like anything else would be.

But we've got nothing really to be ashamed of if we only win one more game down the stretch. Pretty brutal gauntlet we're about to run.

It doesn't take alot to upset a team and 3 losses can evaporate quickly. Wouldn't that be something Hawks go most of season top 5 worse teams and get caught at the end losing out on the 6th pick due to a late winning streak and an extra 1st rounder. Reminds me of the Falcons who barely beat the Bucs and lost 7 or so positions in the draft due to the win.

Return to Atlanta Hawks
