I see y'all Mavs, against the Curry-less Dubs. Don't be such a tease!

Due to a trade on the day of last year’s draft, the Mavs’ NBA Draft Lottery status comes with a twist

Image

...More importantly, the attention turns to the NBA Draft Lottery, aka the Zion Williamson Sweepstakes.

On the night of last summer’s draft, the Atlanta Hawks selected Doncic third overall and the Mavs drafted Trey Young fifth overall. The Mavs then acquired the rights to Doncic in a trade with the Hawks for the rights to Young and a top-five protected No. 1 pick in this coming June’s NBA Draft.

Basically, that means if the Mavs’ selection in this year’s draft lottery isn’t among the top five picks, that draft spot will go directly to the Hawks. But if it is among the top five picks, then the Mavs will get the keep it and Atlanta will receive the Mavs’ first-round pick in 2020, regardless of where it falls in the draft lottery.

Only 8 games left and we are 4 games back of Mavs and Grizz. Our number of lottery balls is basically a lock.

minor CAVSPICK note.

Tonight's win by the Mavs also bars the Cavs from finishing in 7th pre-Lottery, which in turn officially negates the 0.01% chance of slipping to 11th as a result of the Lottery (i.e., Hawks kicking their pick into next year becomes Official Official)

Something I was not watching lately is that more teams than MEM only could help : WAS has one more W than DAL, NOP and LAL two Ws
Image

Since DAL and MEM will play two more times against each other, it could change a lot.
The pick would be not as good than 6th, but I would prefer DAL being 7th (or even 8th) and less odds at getting one of 4 lottery picks, than having them at 6th with more odds at the lottery.

The best thing would be a tie between MEM, DAL, NOP and LAL at 6th, because they would share their overall odds, with DAL being the winner of coin flip and place at 6th.
DAL would have 6.75% of getting the 1st pick, instead of 9% being 6th alone, but in case no team with better record jump in the lottery, they would be 6th and give us the pick ;-)

Anyway, I will repeat myself : please ATL, don't win three games more than the other teams !

How bout a fine, Adam Silver?

Kristaps Porzingis will miss the entire 18-19 season as he recovers from his torn ACL. But Porzingis has fully recovered from his injury and has resumed full basketball activities with the exception of playing in actual games.

"Oh my god, that's the hardest thing for me to wake up on game days, go through shootaround with the team and then have to pick a suit to wear for the game," Porzingis said. "I'm like, 'I don't want to do this anymore.' It's the toughest thing for me. Tougher than I expected."

Mavs just lost. We are only 2.5 back now. It's going to come down to the wire.

very tough schedule to close the season. don't get down on them for winning tonight. I think you hold on to 5th

I'm not even a hawks fan but I want Zion on the Hawks and for you guys to get a wing with the 6th pick. Give Tobias the full max in the off-season and I'd bet on the hawks making the playoffs next year.

That 2-game series with the Mavs & Griz is huge... I'm hoping the Mavs sweep those two games and go on to finish 7th or 8th. Any way it goes down, I'm going to be nervous until the lottery.

Mavs seem committed to losing. The Grizzlies, it seems, are trying to convey that pick this year to Boston. So much drama over losing lol

I don't fault them for it, but come on, we aren't doing anything this year, it's a big deal to lose Mavs pick this year and decrease odds at Zion. That could be franchise changing.

Magic won a few games at end of season a few years ago, got Aaron Gordon in the draft while the Sixers tanked the end of season and moved up one spot, got Embiid. That's franchise altering, for a few games at the end of the season.

The Mavs have a 4-game stretch against Minnesota, Memphis, @Memphis, and Phoenix. If they can just win one of those then we can win 2 more games.

Orlando is the only losing team on our schedule and they've owned us. Hopefully Indiana has something to play for in the last game and Philly won't let us beat them 3 times. I really wanted to take a game from the Bucks this season, but at this point we'll probably need the losses.

The Bucks have a 4 game lead for home court with 7 to play. They could EASILY rest all their starters for either game if they chose to. I wouldn't count those as losses necessarily. Heck, they could play their starters and I wouldn't concede with the way Trae, John, and Prince have been playing lately.

I wasn't conceding those games, just saying we'll probably need to lose them. Because I also wouldn't be surprised for us to win any of our remaining games.
