I believe he needs to be offered back to KC if he doesn't stay on 25 man roster for Jays... same as with Romano for Texas being offered back to Jays for being taken in Rule 5 draft

Would KC have to put him on their 25-man roster or can they just stash him back in the minors?

Back in the minors.

Which, honestly, probably not the worst thing for him. We're really not doing any favours for his development path by warehousing him for a season in the majors, then presumably demoting him to be a starting pitcher again (though now with his option clock ticking).

Why don’t we just work out a trade for him with the royals?

I'm guessing that they don't have much incentive to do so. They might also be a wee bit annoyed if we basically kidnapped a 19 year old rookie ball prospect and then held him for ransom, heh.

I also have no idea whatsoever what the rules are on acquiring a Rule 5 player without the restrictions. Like, we could trade him elsewhere, but he'd still have to be rostered. We could work out an arrangement where he's returned and then reacquired, I suppose, but that might not appeal to the Royals.

I just figured from the Royals perspective, it would be better to get something for him, instead of hoping the Jays return him. While from the Jays perspective, it eliminates the need to keep him on the team all year. So they can develop him normally.

Interesting article on Hernandez and the things he’s doing to improve on his weaknesses from last year.

Is Teoscar Hernandez’s hard work about to pay off for Blue Jays?

There are some potentially nice pieces there (Jansen, Gurriel, Grichuk), but man is that lineup ever crying out for some high OBP guys. Baseball is so much more entertaining when guys are on base. Home runs are nice too, but give me a high OBP, moderate power over a high power, mediocre/bad offense any day of the week.

It should look a lot better once Vlad and Bo are up.

“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."
