Great move, opens up the spot we needed. Moved the most inflexible player and now can rotate and give guys rest. But that roster spot is key plus the internal bonus.

Funny, earlier today my brother and I where talking about how they should try to move Morales next. I didn't expect it to be this soon. But its a good move. I really like the international signing bonus pool space. I suspect they have someone on there mind if not it will help encase they want to sing a player internationally.

A's get a switch hitting DH and fill in at first base for $2M, projected wRC+ around 100-110.

It's about time. We waited since last spring to do this just so we could save $2M and get a small amount of int'l bonus money. He'd have been DFA'd in December 2017 if he was an Anthopoulos signing rather than their own.

Think we're a little below the Dodgers from years previous, but something like 40% of our payroll is due to players who aren't in our organization anymore.

In any event, it's interesting that we've again acquired international bonus pool money. We've been linked to one of the top names in the 2019 IFA class; wonder if there's more on the docket.

Awesome news! Never was a fan of Morales. Slow as molasses and can't hit a breaking ball if he wanted to. Hope this means we see Telez with the big club. crossing fingers!

Awesome!. International signing space is big. A little surprised they did it now with his repoire with young Latin players of which we have many... But whatever. It's needed to happen for awhile now. Looking forward to seeing rowdy getting some regular reps

As the MLBTR article notes, you can only trade intl bonus money in tranches of $250k+. So, between moving Dwight Smith Jr and Morales, we've picked up at least $500k. That ain't nothing; gives us at least $5.5m or thereabouts to work with.
