Re: 2018-19 College Hoops
As noted last week: Oregon is a legit team. Understand why they were seeded as a 12 but they are still playing top 5 or 10 in the nation ball for over a month now. Hanging with Virginia adds to it.

20+ points short of playing at that UMBC Retriever level. If not top 5, then top 6 at worst.
Please reconsider your animal consumption.

Happy for Bennett. One more and he gets the monkey off his back at least a little bit.

He might be the highest upside guy who is lowest on mock drafts right now. He could be Paul George. Someone has to take him in the first round.

Is Ryan Cline more than just a sniper? Anyone who can shoot like that deserves some attention and hes getting it now but is that all he can do or does he have a shot in the pros?

Oregon is trash. Played 2 bad teams and a perfect matchup in Virginia. Gonzaga would've undressed them. Whatever. They're out.

Well at least you understand that the tournament is all about matchups.
At a party given by a billionaire, Kurt Vonnegut informs Joseph Heller that their host had made more money in a single day than Heller had earned from his novel Catch-22.
Heller responds, “Yes, but I have something he will never have — ENOUGH.”

I know some don’t trust it and that’s your thing but for the past month of the season they were #3 in the nation in most advanced metrics. #1 defense over that span.
I realize this is based on a lot of NIT/bubble competition but you can’t just snap your fingers and run Utah and Washington out of the gym by 20 points for 10 straight games unless you’re pretty good.
There are no 3-star players on their team other than maybe 1 guy. All 4-5.
It’s possible that an NBA talent team that is more well-rounded could crush that streak, no doubt but all I’m suggesting is that they’re better than a 12 seed by a decent margin at this point of the season, that’s all.

Re: 2018-19 College Hoops
Eh. Ok. I think they got dream matchups in all 3 games. That 4/5 & 12/13 was all the same type of team, and Oregon had the best athletes, as you mention. Even Virginia was a great matchup for them. Put them against Auburn (another 5 seed) and they get blown out imo.
Wisconsin was literally the best 5 they could've played and, to their credit, they disposed of them.
I'm not buying they were any good though.

That’s fine. It’s in the eye of the beholder. I just think that at this point of the season if you were seeding them based on how they were playing they should’ve been a 4 or 5 themselves. Generally I’m not about hot streaks but they had clearly turned a corner. Could’ve flipped seeds with KState or Wisconsin the way things were going.
Also, tournament conspiracy theory guy in me feels like they put KState, Wisconsin, Virginia in the same pod so that at best (or for the committee, at worst) only 1 survives. Throw Oregon in there as the sleeper agent and you may knock out all 3 “boring” teams before the final four.

So sad. That kid was playing himself into a first round pick and I’m pretty sure he just blew multiple ligaments in his knee out. The player reactions and the loud pop don’t look good, especially with how much pain he was in.

He was playing his way into being a lottery pick. He was able to put some pressure on it, which doesn't rule out everything serious, but at least gives me hope.
Between this and Jontay though, just feel terrible for those guys.

Re: 2018-19 College Hoops
Do you think Auburn fans give a **** about Pearl's history right now? He's built a competitive team that's going to the Elite Eight. From Auburn.
He'll probably get busted again, but these runs are fun memories for programs like that.
It shows you how much the NCAA enables some of its own problems with the way they incentivize success over consistent rule enforcement.

Yeah but Auburn fans will be forced to forget about it when the NCAA vacates the wins.

Love to see a Buzz Vs. Pearl final
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Re: 2018-19 College Hoops
Pearl only had a cookout and lied about it, right? Fairly tame offense compared to whatever else you can imagine is occurring. The conspiracy of telling those eating ribs not to rat him out. Sounds worse than it's listed I think. Maybe other stuff happened after, that's what I remember from like a decade ago.
