Honestly, while Urena ran through the stop sign, I'm not sure that was a bad situation to run. Having to make a 70-foot throw from your knees ain't easy, and with the offense non-existent, might as well roll the dice.

Teoscar had it. Missed that 2nd last pitch.

I thought it was fine. Their SS made a perfect throw and from his knees. Could have gone either way. Detroit got lucky I guess.

So after this first series I'm going to go ahead and say we just might win the world series this year

It is kind of funny that the Braves are the only winless team.

Anyone else find Richard Urena far more interesting than Freddy G?

This is probably going to be an ongoing theme this year. I'd probably find Alford more interesting than Pillar, and Thornton more interesting than Richard once Borucki returns to the four slot in the rotation. Some of our young players are placeholders until better prospects in the low-to-mid minors force their way into the conversation, but they are still more interesting to watch for signs of life than marginal, older veterans.

Exactly. The injuries to guys like Galvis, Richard, Borucki, Tepera, Travis, Axford and Norris is the reason why you bring in depth. Without depth then guys like SRF, Luciano, Thronton, Urena, Gurriel etc. will be relied upon for an entire season - for better or worse. You can always rush a prospect or ruin them if you keep throwing them out their and they are bad. Part of development is mental to go with physical. Physically we know most prospect cannot withstand the rigors of a 162 game season - as i can say almost all cannot do it mentally. The additions of Galvis and Richard and other depth is to protect your prospect to give them mental and physical break while challenging them to rise to the occasion. They were brought with the hopes that guys like Gurriel, Ureana, Luciano, Thornton, SRF, Pannone and others will be here in August because they will be the best players they can be and also hoping you can move those vets on 1 year deals to open up spots.

I find him perplexing - his minor league numbers are pretty bad, but he usually looks fairly decent in the bigs. Granted he's had only a quarter of a season's worth of ABs over the last 3 years. I don't mind having a stabilizing presence like Galvis around to anchor the defense, but I wouldn't want to stunt the development of other players just to get Galvis playing time.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."
