Looks like there's at least some interest. I'll start this up after we get through the 1st round of the GOAT Team project.

I'm still open to taking suggestions. If there's one that meets the criteria of the OP, feel free to let me know (of course, someone has to fall off).

The 2010 Suns should be there.

2012 OKC deserve a place here, 4 years apart from 2016 OKC and they tore up the WC before falling to inexperience and a bad matchup in the Finals. 3 future MVPs in that team.
Houston 86 as well. Beat the Showtime Lakers, took one of the GOAT teams to 6 in the Finals.

How about 1971-75 Bulls? 1980-86 Bucks are among very best ever.

The Bucks are well represented in this tournament by the '81 & '86 squads.
Right now the floor is an SRS +5 & getting out of the 1st round. Chicago didn't achieve that during that era.

They're effectively represented by the '07 Suns.

Re: Project Proposal: Greatest Team To Never Win a Ring
Right now the floor is:
+5 SRS
Getting out of the 1st round while also not getting swept in round 2
Escaped the 1st round in either the prior or subsequent years (not looking for flukes here)
Squads are at least 4 years apart if the same franchise - with the only exception being '93 Phoenix vs. '90 Phoenix due to the add of Barkley
Keep that in mind while making suggestions - but keep em coming. I'd also need a team to replace.
That's why the '86 Rockets don't make the cut.
'12 Thunder have replaced the '04 Wolves - the only team on the list not to meet the 3rd criteria listed.

1st round might not be a great criteria across eras. '72 Bulls (7.91 SRS) played in the (way) tougher (especially at the top end) conference and played in a 1 vs 3, 2 vs 4 seeding system so their reward for finishing third was to meet the Lakers (not, in this instance that 2nd would have been much easier). It doesn't matter as they won't win but those Bulls probably do warrant inclusion (devil's advocate counterpoint, SRS was inflated by a lower league average when the the NBA rapidly expanded in the late 60s and early 70s).

Yeah I thought about the same thing. 1972 Bulls were extremely good team who were unlucky to face GOAT team in the first round. Imagine 1986 Bucks facing Celtics in first round, they would get eliminated and nobody would talk about them.
Of course it's your criteria and I won't argue with that. Era comparison are tricky and you have to have minimum to reach for the team (otherwise mentions would be too subjective). Just take it into consideration

Re: Project Proposal: Greatest Team To Never Win a Ring
You guys convinced me.
I felt uneasy about the overlap on '75/'78 WAS & '04/'08 Detroit so I replaced those two squads with the '79 Spurs (they hit 5.0 SRS if you round to the nearest decimal) & '72 Bulls while giving the Bulls a penalty on seeding. Pending any other thoughts, I'll probably kick this off in a day or two.

Re: Project Proposal: Greatest Team To Never Win a Ring
I don’t think this list is complete without the 77 Sixers. Dr. J., McGinnis, Cheeks, Caldwell Jones and Dawkins in the middle, they were upset by Portland in the finals.

Re: Project Proposal: Greatest Team To Never Win a Ring
I feel the 2019 Bucks will join this list soon! (PS: Hi people from the future!I'm sure you will be mad or laugh at me...)
I thought the 2015 Clippers were better than their 2014 version, especially Griffin.
PS: I didn't know the 2014 Clips had a higher SRS (despite CP3 missing more games than in 2015). Interesting. Probably not a notable difference. Same core, same rotation more or less (Redick with a huge jump in minutes in '15)

They are represented by the '81 Sixers which is a better version of the squad you listed.

The 2014 team was clearly better. The 2015 team had a horrible bench. Jamal Crawford completely fell off after 2014 and they had no backup point guard (such as Darren Collison).

The '15 squad made this project because they had a higher SRS - I was looking for the version of each team with the highest SRS for consistency sake.

Ah yes. Long day - the '14 squad had higher SRS and is the one included.
