Possible Free Agent Destinations For Ricky Rubio?

Post#1 » by jinxed » Wed Apr 3, 2019 12:16 am

Ricky Rubio is going to be an upcoming free agent, and with all the trade rumors surrounding him at the break, it's clear the Jazz are looking for someone else.

Rubio is not a great fit with the Jazz. He's one of the 10 greatest passers in NBA history, and one of it's poorest shooters, so playing a lot of off-ball with Mitchell is not the way to utilize Ricky's talents. He should be averaging far more than 5/6 assists a game. I'm a Ricky fan, but I want him to move on, to be the main ball handler, but where could that be?

Could your team use him?

With Exum out indefinitely, perhaps staying in Utah is most likely. Is Rubio still a starter? If he wants to stay with a playoff team, I'm not sure he can be a starter anywhere else. From the teams I think could do with obviously do with a PG upgrade:

- Indiana
- Charlottle (Should Kemba leave)
- Orlando
- Phoenix
- Minnesota ;)
- Chicago

I'm not sure Ricky would sign with any of these teams (maybe Pacers?)...after all the losing with Minnesota. A S+T with Memphis after the season has been suggested by others.

Dallas if we strike out, I could see them offering a large one year contract.

Phoenix and Dallas come to mind. I love him to death but if Utah wants to take the next step, they need to upgrade.

I think Utah will make an offer to Rubio, but it's true we'd probably rather have someone else. Just don't know how likely it is we get someone else that's better.
In '03-'04, Jerry Sloan coached the ESPN predicted "worst team of all time" to 42-40.

Yep think DAL could work especially since they could have shooting at 2-5.

Also think you guys might make an offer to Dragic

I'd like Chicago to look at him. The team could use a solid veteran PG. If not Rubio then Patrick Beverly is another player I'd like them to consider.

At the end the Jazz will strike out in FA and bring him back.

Mavs, you know it's the right thing to do, and there are no other options.

What are you guys talking about? The Mavs have Brunson. He is a stud and a perfect PG next to Luka. I would just roll with him next season.. Makes no sense to spend money on 2nd tier PGs that won't move the needle. And it's also quite redundant to have ball dominant PG next to Luka.

Rubio's still starting material, just a lower tier starting PG.

He’d be great for Cleveland. Let Sexton play off ball.

I don't think Dallas makes sense. They need a Patrick Beverley type next to Doncic not somebody the defense can sag off of. Phoenix makes sense.

Theyll most likely make the second round for another year so clearly theyre doing something right, he should stay.
