After a behind the back pitch on Derek Dietrich who homered earlier in the game, benches cleared in Pittsburgh as David Bell and Yasiel Puig get ejected.

Trump Administration Blocks Baseball Players From Cuba

The Trump Administration has rejected an agreement between Major League Baseball and the Cuban Baseball Federation regarding the movement of Cuban ballplayers, as Vivian Salama and Jared Diamond of the Wall Street Journal report. For the time being, the preexisting state of affairs will continue to govern any Cuban players that seek to join MLB organizations.

And having shipped out a bunch of prospects for players who are in the final year of their contracts. There was a lot of grandstanding about Cincy's willingness to Go For It, and how it reflected well on them as an organization and whatever, but man...maybe a team that won 67 games the year before isn't actually in a great position for a one-year, all-or-nothing push. Ten days in and Fangraphs gives them a 2.7% chance of making the playoffs.

Chris Davis now owns the major league record for most consecutive at-bats without a hit, at 47. He's 0 for 26 on the year.

Can you imagine scoring that many runs?
9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.

I assume you mean on the season. That's kinda a lot, though. Probably not realistic.

Just a fyi, Shapiro and the current Jays front office wanted to bring back Edwin in 2016. When free agency hit, they gave him a very good offer that was market competitive. EE's agent felt that EE could get more money/years if they waited, so their camp turned the Jays' offer down. The Jays then moved on and used the money elsewhere before the rest of the free agents signed with other teams and the market dried up.

Unfortunately for EE, that offer from the Jays was the best offer he'd end up getting during his free agency. He actually ended up signing with Cleveland for less money than the Jays had originally offered him.

So don't blame Shapiro, blame EE and his agent for over-estimating his market and chasing the max dollars. If he really wanted to come back, he'd have taken the great offer the Jays had put out in front of him at the start.

Nationals Agree To Terms With Bud Norris

The Nationals have agreed to a deal with right-hander Bud Norris, according to Britt Ghiroli of The Athletic (via Twitter). It’ll be a minors pact if completed, Mark Zuckerman of MASNsports.com tweets. Norris will first need to pass a physical before a deal is finalized.

Er, how about wait and then trade moralys. Or get him from the Mariners? He was def available. Edwin felt disrespected and we lost him. A real mess made even worse by giving grichuk 55 mn. People will tell you he’s better than Edwin. LOL
