Man, I had a hard time watching games at all in 2012-13. Down the stretch in 15-16 was rough, but not nearly as rough as 16-17 or 17-18.
I only started tuning out this year after Ayton went down. So... four games of unwatchable basketball, and the second halves of plenty of several games during that terrible 19-game stretch? At least we weren't being blown out by 50 every other night, as we were for stretches of the 17-18 season. How can anyone say this season is more depressing than that one?
At least throughout this season we've had glimmers of hope. Until last night, I could watch every game knowing that any signs of progress I watched on the court would be from players that will be part of the next great Suns team.
.... Kinda reminds me of 2003-04, after we dealt Marbury and closed out the season pretty nice with solid progress from Joe Johnson, Amare and Barbosa. When we added Nash, we weren't *really* as bad as the prior season's record indicated. I don't think we'll smash through next year the way that 2004-05 team did, but I do expect us to make huge progress if we can just bring back most of this squad, avoid injuries, add depth throughout the roster (replacing Daniels and Crawford/Jimmer with *actual NBA players* would be great), and add Zion, Clarke or Morant. If Zion or Clarke, add the best vet 1 or 1/2, and if Morant, the best vet 4 or 4/5, that you can via free agency or a Melton/Okobo or as part of a TJ trade. Pretty simple, seems to me!
