I forget who said this on the radio but they thought Tomas Pannone needs to succeed as a starter or he will not last long because there are not many light throwers in any bullpens.

Jesus, can Alford get any consistent major league AB's?

Needs to be consistent at the AAA level first. He was awful last year; the door's open to him at the major league level now (though I'm glad we're getting a look at Grichuk in CF) but he has to demonstrate that last year's alarming K rate was a one-off.

Never understood the approach of some of these players. Bases loaded and nobody out. Swinging strike on three pitches. Why??

Impressive how they managed to not score a run there.

That was impressively wasteful even by our standards. Brito, Grichuk and Tellez combined to swing at nine pitches out of the zone.

Fair enough. So why wouldn't they just leave him in Buffalo instead on bringing him up for a game, only to send him back down?
What do you think of Brito? Great AAA numbers but has been absolutely brutal in the majors.

Guessing because he's on the 40-man; they'd brought him to Toronto when Pillar was nearly traded a couple days previous, so he might've still been here as Buffalo's season hadn't yet started.

Brito's a guy. Numbers were great last year, with the caveat that it's the hitter-happy PCL, but generally speaking he has a fringe fourth OF profile; solid three-position OF defender, fast, below-average power (until last year) and middling-to-bad contact. Anthony Gose with a bit less speed and more of an idea and how to run routes, I guess?

Buffalo was not playing. That is probably why.

It would be nice to not face the threat of being no hit every game.

Isn’t galvis supposed to be a defensive wizard? He looks like garbage to me with his glove

Pretty average defensively, and a bad hitter. He's basically a useful-enough place-filler for the time being, but he'll probably be shuffled off whenever Bichette is ready or one of the kids shows enough to earn the spot.

When I said at the season outset that I was excited to watch the prospects play, I wasn't referring to the likes of Alex Hanson and Socrates Brito. Ugghh...

I see we're getting no hit again...
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."
