2018/2019 NBA draft talk: Who should be our target? (Poll)

I just saw on sportscenter that Giovany and I think the other ESPN NBA draft analyst is Schultz, They have Darius Garland #4 on their board and Jarrett Culver #5 with obviously Zion #1, Morant #2 and Barrett #3. So I guess that tells me if Garland or Culver is available at our pick that we should draft them.

Also what happens if Cam Reddish dropped down to our pick which I do think its possible cause he's gone downhill so there's concerns about him. I would pass on Reddish if he was available at our pick.

Crazy sad how poorly Reddish played this season. I don't question the talent as much as the dog in him. Doesn't seem like he has a killer instinct.

I would take Chuma Okeke ahead of him. Feel in love with him during the tournament.

I think we should absolutely be questioning Cam's talent. 35.6% FG%, 33.3% 3pt%, and 2.7 turnovers a game! He's horrendously bad. Granted this is his floor, but I don't know if he has the character make up to even reach 50% of his potential.

Can somebody please explain all this Darius Garland hype to me.. The kid only played 5 college games and though his numbers were good its nothing that really jumps out at you. What would justify a team taking him top 5? Is the draft just that weak outside the top 3-4 guys (especially PG wise), or am I just missing something?

The draft is that weak. But Garland was the 2nd best point guard prospect out of high school. His game fits what we need; good shooter who can make plays. The 5 games he did play were pretty good for a freshman.

Tore his ACL against UNC so his rehab will be long, but I think it will allow him to be where we are. We can wait for him to get healthy. Plays with a junk yard dog mentality that I love. Feisty defender... gobbles up steals and blocks. Drives and plays above the rim, but his shot is wet. 39% 3PT shooter on almost 4 attempts/gm.

Thybulle looks to be an Iwundu clone with a little better shot.. Cam Johnson is intriguing but wary of taking another F. I have reccently started taking a deeper dive on Tyler Herro from Kentucky as a sleeper pick for us. I'm all in on NAW but back end of the season Magic Johnson and Lakers team had a block of rooms in Blacksburg and then followed to ACC tournament for more looks.

The draft is that weak. But Garland was the 2nd best point guard prospect out of high school. His game fits what we need; good shooter who can make plays. The 5 games he did play were pretty good for a freshman.

i don't think Garland makes it out of the top 10 and Memphis is my landing spot for him.

No interest in Thybulle. He's a Senior and the upside isn't there, imo. I imagine NAW being a contributor in the NBA, but I don't see star potential. Cam Johnson another Senior... plays soft, imo. Edwards would be awesome in Round 2! He's a fire cracker!

I like Jaylen Lecque in Round 2 more though.

I'm with you. He looks like an undersized SG to me. The shot looks beautiful though. He isn't a natural PG, so his upside is probably limited in that regard and his physical tools aren't a plus. I think the fact that he gets mocked as high as he does is pretty damning evidence of the lack of quality in this class.

I just don't know what position Will Zion Play. He looks Like smaller Griffin

He can play both forward positions defensively. Offensively, he can play 3-5, with or without the ball.

Not really sure that he can play SF in nba, his shooting from outside is easly worst part of his game.
He also isn't some advanced passer, despite ESPN trying to hype him up to be one, he actually has more TOs than assists.

As a C ,as rim protector his size will always be limiting factor.

Not saying he is bad prospect, he is clearly complete freak of nature from athletic POV but has some odd tools that make him unorthodox player.

That's why i said that maybe Morant goes first, it's simply easier to add great PG with advanced all around game, than build team around 6'7 center that needs ball in his hands and can't really shoot well.

Also he is what? 270 pounds? That's A LOT of weight for somebody who is 18. Can his body stay healthy? Can he control weight? Can he lose weight ? Will it make him more injury prone?

Barkley was big coming out of college.

Agreed.... but it's gotta peak your interest. Imagine if his surprising shooting woes had to do with a torn ligament... it really will make you wonder how good a healthy version can do. If he was previous a poor shooter it would be less of an intrigue. haha

NBAdraft.net has Langford available at 16. He would be a nice back-up guard next year with potential to grow in to an asset moving forward. Doumbouya and Herro are another two players that could easily be the next Magician.

For the high second, I would be shocked if the Magic did anything but draft a college senior. Orlando's depth needs such a selection. Of course if Okeke slides to the 30s, Orlando needs to consider him.
