Biggio's home run swing was also a beauty. After watching about as much of the punchless Jays as one can stomach, I yearn for these impact rookies to move up. At least if they struggle, it's for a good cause. I don't know why Brito is even a thing. Please God, make this month past faster so we can start legitimately asking for "the DFA of the day".

Had missed personal favourite Alejandro Kirk on the Lansing roster. Absolutely mashed last year in Bluefield while throwing out 43% of base stealers, with the biggest knock against him being that his body will work against remaining behind the plate (he's built like Willians Astudillo, without the freakish fatboy athleticism). He's hitting cleanup behind Groshans at the moment.

I'm still fine with the patience; Biggio's Destroyer of Worlds phase is still pretty new. That is most decidedly a nice lefty-on-lefty swing, though. Gonzalez got way more of the plate than he intended to, but Biggio was nice and balanced.

Astudillo is listed at 5'9", 225 (and that's probably low), but he's also a being of pure cosmic goodness sent to make baseball more fun, so it's hard to expect Kirk to match him.

Some other notables:

Nate Pearson threw 5 IP, with 6 Ks and 1 walk, and the only blemish being a solo HR.

Cal Stevenson, who put up wild numbers in Bluefield as a rather old rookie ball player (64 walks versus 24 Ks, with next to no pop) jumped short-season A and Lansing to find himself hitting leadoff for Dunedin. 3 for 4 with a walk and HR isn't a bad way to start there. As a 10th round senior sign who cost us $5k, he rates at moderately intriguing.

Riley Adams, our 3rd rounder in 2017 who is repeating the level, had a HR backed by the 2 Ks that have typified his time in the organization to date. As a catcher, you can live with the Ks if he shows more power, which was missing last season.

Waguespack had a strong first start, with 6 hits and 1 ER over 6 IP, and an 8:0 K:BB. Sat 93-94 from reports, usual caveats about flaky MiLB guns apply.

Vlad was 1 for 4 in his rehab stint with Dunedin and is probably a bust.

I don't know why Brito or Hanson are a thing. These guys are on the wrong side of 25 and have been given multiple chances already (Hanson especially). I have no objection to giving them a chance to figure things out in AAA, but watching them flail away with the big club is painful.

Alford 1-4 with a 2-run shot, a BB and a K.

Bichette 0-3, with a BB and a K.

Reid-Foley got badly roughed up (6ER in 3IP), but Rule V returnee Romana picked up the slack with 3 IP of no hit ball with 2 BBs and 3 Ks.

Buffalo ahead 10-8 in the 8th.

Simple answer: they're disposable. As soon as Vlad and Bichette and Biggio and Alford are ready, if they're ready, we can DFA them without a second thought.

Buffalo beat up on a pretty good prospect in Chance Adams: a HR for Alford, three walks and a triple for Biggio. SRF got blown up, owing to his usual problem of not knowing where the plate is.
