In kind of a surprise, Xander and the Sox agreed to an extension. Including this year it's 7/132, with an opt out after 2022. Obviously a steal for the Sox, Xander took a pretty serious hometown discount.

Now just do the same with Bradley, something like 5/75 seems fair. And then just pray they can somehow retain Mookie after next year.

Wow, the Sox suck right now. Long season, lots of time to get better, but let's not dig too deep a hole.
P.S. - Brady is awesome!!!!

Reverse of last season. Suck doesn’t even cover it at this point. See what Sale has to offer tomorrow night.

Nice team you have there Mr. Henry. 2 straight shutouts and your ace is throwing 89. Team is in big, big trouble and Alex, who I love, is about to feel some serious heat at 1-5. It is fun when it goes right, but that was last year. While it is still early, there have been zero consistently good signs.

Well, finally they win their second game. Some luck, but you make your luck. Finally they seemed to realize they are the Red Sox and not some pushover team. Hopefully this propels them out of the funk.

I don't think it would hurt to call Sandy Leon up for a few games, see what happens.

Wow, I think it's safe to say that this Sox team is the WORST team that has played for Boston in any sport in a long time.

My report from the game tonight. First off, huge contingent of Red Sox fans at Chase Field. We had seats next to the Sox bullpen and that was very cool. Hector Velasquez was in the pen during the game, but he is starting tomorrow (or today) so between innings he was signing balls if you dropped one to him. So we got an auto which as sweet. Downside was the Sox declined BP which was strange and seemingly had no effect.

Price pitched pretty good, expect for one inning where he gave the lead plus interest back. His stuff in the pen looked good but that one inning did them in. Shame, but that is what happened. We also got an up close and personal look at the odd miscomunication and tepidness between Betts and Bradley. Betts pulled up on a liner, but Bradley was about 5 feet behind him in position to back him up. Prevailing theory amongst the Sox fans we were around was he gave up to early and later reports seem to verify that. Pretty odd because they are both Gold Glovers and have played besides each other for years.

Speaking of Betts, I feel a bit validated because multiple strangers to me agreed that Betts’ biggest issue is his inability to adapt to how they are pitching him. Outside, outside and outside with off speed stuff. Tries to pull neat everything. Couple guys said he needs to wait a tick longer on the pitches and flick them oppo. His sac fly tonight was to RF which was nice to see. Also, we had an incredible view of his defensive play on the 9th. Runner was just rounding third when Betts scooped the ball up and he threw an absolute laser to home. Best throw I have ever seen in person. Holy cow.

Ending thoughts are they are being challenged offensively with offspeed stuff. They need to adapt and adapt soon. Might be going again tomorrow as well.

Went again today. Glad they won 1-0 but it should have not been that hard. We got there early but yet again, no BP from either team. Day game after a night game it is understandable. What isn’t is the fact they didn’t take it yesterday. I chatted up an older usher and he said he had never seen in his 2 plus years any visting team not take BP 2 days in a row. Take from that what you will, but I have several issues with that to also include fan outreach.

As far as the game, not much there. Velazquez was solid as was the ‘pen. Mitchy 4 bags hit his HR right near us which was cool. Offense was shaky otherwise and Cora alluded to needing ajdustments.

So basically, all 4 of our teams are/were in the Playoffs in the same 1-year period.
