Is there anything to look forward to in the distant future?

The worst possible outcome for a team is getting the 8th seed or the 14th pick in the draft.

This will be our 3rd season in a row with that outcome.

That's 3 wasted years.

Unless KD + AD / Monroe want to play along side Justice Winslow, we shouldn't pin our hopes on 2020.

And even then, that will probably get us to the 3rd-5th seed if Spo remains as the head coach.

Also, since we don't have a pick for 2021, we can't tank that year (although we'll probably screw that up and get a really bad record).

I don't mean to be a downer, but I don't know much about a plan other than 2020 FA and I'm hoping you guys can tell me we're not going to be a middle of the pack team for the next 5 years.

The Hawk has could have 2 Top 6 pick

Fun facts :
- The Miami Heat surpassed the Knicks in championships
- Only the Lakers, Bulls, Celtics and Spurs have more championships

Ebb and flow. We're gonna suck for a long time until we draft a superstar. Buckle up.

If the Sixers didn't get super lucky and get Embiid, they would be worse than the Heat right now.

I've spent the past month looking for something to be excited about going into next season. Outside of watching Winslow and Bam develop, I can't think of much. We never seem to have draft picks and we're full of pretty bad contracts. I think Whiteside & Dragic have player options? I hope they both walk so we can get some cap space. lol

KD + AD would make us an instant contender in the East. But the likelihood of that is near zero.

The problem is that our best chance to rebuild is through the draft, but Pat doesn't respect or value young players.

IMO we will likely continue to treadmill at ~ .500 for about a decade until Pat retires, and then maybe we'll finally allow ourselves to bottom out.

If we were to miss the playoffs in Wade's final year, I wonder if it would spark change.

You do know that Pat would trade this whole team just for Simmons, which speaks in volumes of how bad we are. Its not rocket science you need elite players to win, they are not going to knock on the door to play here so, you draft them. Ideally you need to get into the lottery for that to happen. Yes once in blue moon some team might have been able to draft a star with a lower pick, to date that is not us. Heck we still have people who honestly think Winslow is better than Booker, that Bam is better than Donovan Mitchell. Once one get rid of the irrational Heat homer mentality, its clear as day that things are very wrong here.

The best thing that could happen is we get what we deserve and have earned this season. Its like girl who let herself go. In her mind she thinks shes hot and has just gained a little weight. Reality is she now weighing over 200 pounds and is the literal whale. Only when reality hits, she goes to the beach and is mocked and reality hits her will she change her ways. Getting what we deserve will go a long way of waking this organization up.

The best thing to look forward to are Avenger Endgame and Lion King. Oh and the beach. Basketball wise its time to make some long overdue drastic changes.

Simmons is no Superstar. When Embiid sits out a game, the entire team has played sub .500 ball and are as bad if not worse than the Heat. When Simmons sits and Embiid plays, the team does not miss a beat. Simmons does not lead that team to victories, Embiid does. Simmons is a solid role player.

Simmons is no Superstar. And, it is debatable if he will ever become an all-star. When Embiid sits out a game, the entire team has played sub .500 ball and are as bad if not worse than the Heat. I think we are forgetting how he performed against us as a rookie in the playoffs. He avg 18 points, 9 assist and 10 rebounds. If thats what is needed to be considered a role player then i can only imagine what you think of Winslow and Bam, heck what you must think of out team in general.

The simple truth is Simmons is better than anyone we have on this team. Pat would trade everyone and unprotected draft picks just to have Simmons. Time will tell if Simmons gets a better jumper and takes the leap like Gianni. At one point Gianni had no jumper and was also considered a role player by some.

With that said we couldn't even beat the Raptors, so lets get what we deserve and have earned and let the consequences of those actions shape the changes that are needed here.

Simmons was an all-star this year though at 22.

I think I'm the only Heat fan who thinks the team is on the right path.

J-Rich, Justise and Bam all improved this season and have all shown a lot of promise. We've shown capable of finding talent without having high draft picks. We have cap space in the summer of 2020.

I think the pessimism of the fanbase may be stemming from being a bit spoiled by the success of the 2005-2015 decade.
