This is what everyone was saying last April as well and then he ended up ripping the cover off the ball the final 3 months. Maybe he’s just a slow starter in the Encarnacion mold?

He's even more of an extreme slow starter than Encarnacion, but this isn't actually a bad start. .172/.273/.552 is, obviously, not a sustainable line over the course of a season, but it'd be a good one.

I had a dream that we had 5 runs today. I'm usually not wrong about this stuff.

Rowdy's getting the traditional treatment of a guy who has demonstrated that he can hit pitches in the zone...only 33% of the pitches he has faced thus far would be strikes. Whiffing a fair bit, but he has had some good takes.

Don't mind losing but the lack of offence is gross and extremely boring

So, uh, this isn't normal for Freddy Galvis.

Sorry, I blacked out. Is this what a rally looks like?

Carrasco is really good, had a FIP under 3.00 last season.

Don't mind losing games but man let's put an effort to score some runs.

Drury's having an alarmingly bad start to the year; he has always had more of a problem with Ks than you'd like to see from a guy with middling power, but he has a 41.7% K rate to date. Still entirely unsure why we wanted him rather than, I dunno, a real prospect.

This management team appears to be a fan of AAAA depth. If I hear one Atkins talk one more time about how important it is to have minor league depth (i.e. crappy AAAA talent), well... yeah...

The selling point of a lot of guys they've acquired is that they do something better than their numbers suggest; you have late bloomers like Thornton, guys like Teoscar with power that hadn't quite exploded, and a panoply of pitching prospects that have a solid chance to be #4 or #5 starters. And those are certainly useful, and sometimes they become much more than anticipated, as evidenced by this Cleveland team built out of dudes that were considered fringy when acquired.

It's definitely time to start pivoting to younger prospects, however. We're awash with depth, and it should be clear now that we're going to have to settle in to a multi-year rebuild; given a choice between guys who are 'major league ready' but probably unlikely to be much more than average, or high-variance sorts, we need to be comfortable with variance.

The Brandon Drury love affair is perplexing to us fans. Remember, the Yankees were really high on him, too. And I Romberg during Spring Trauning this year when he was hitting well, the Yankee announcers said, “this isn’t a surprise to the Yankees”.

I can buy the belief that Drury is better than his numbers, but, like...how much? He's already in arb, and after 2019 will have burned three seasons of team control. Over about two seasons worth of PAs, he has been marginally above replacement. His upside is that he becomes an average 2B/3B, and while that has value, we aren't in a position where average really gets us anywhere. If our media is correct and we favoured Drury over the Yankees' pitching prospects, I'm at a loss to figure out why.

Especially when we have the best prospect in baseball behind him.

Maybe they felt he was the best “asset” they could get?

Hard to say, but our media claimed that we preferred Drury and McKinney to prospects who were further away. Could well be a cop-out, but people within our organization have been weirdly forthright about our screw-ups (ie., telling the media that we had Flaherty+ on offer for Donaldson), and that particular assertion has held up to date.

It's ok man we know what you meant. Ten hits today though! That's gotta be a season high. I knew all those shadows impairing our vision was just what we needed

Did Montoyo really pinch hit Hanson for Tellez? Isn't that two games in a row we've pinch-hit Hanson late?

Ugghh.
