King's ransom? You mean like the top-5 protected pick we got for Luka? If anything we have even less leverage this time because teams know we already have a point guard. If he's 80% of Russell Westbrook, teams will be knocking our door down to give us an offer. We would be in a Boston situation with Fultz. Whoever isn't in the top 3, will surely be calling to move up for Ja knowing we don't need him, and could either take RJ or take Morant with the idea that we will auction him off to the highest bidder. If the team picking at #4 doesn't like Cam, or thinks taking Culver/Hunter/White/Garland is to high for them, then of course they're calling.
Let's just assume NYK end up with #1:
Cleveland may want to guarantee themselves RJ since they have Sexton already.
Phoenix & Chicago probably needs Ja more than anybody. Every other position is set for them
Would NOP consider rebuilding with Ja over Tatum? If so, we can facilitate that with us taking Tatum and sending Morant to NOP essentially.
Memphis wants to bet on Morant being a better pro prospect over JJJ?!
Just a few ideas, but get as creative as you want.

Nice wishful thinking. I can't think of a single example in recent history where a team has gotten a "Kings ransom" for the 2nd pick. Go back through the drafts, it just doesn't happen.

Not even Ayton plus PHX pick?! A high upside 2 way big who has established himself as a double double machine this year and can hit from mid range over Zion sounds good to me. Add another top 5 pick I would assume, and I think we make out like bandits. Hell just gve me Ayton and I'm good.

I think Zion is a great player, but a tad overhyped. More Chuck Barkley, less LaBrawna James. I’d take Ayton plus Phx pick (if top 3) for him all day long. That’s essentially Ayton and RJ. AD would be tempting, but may bolt.

I'd do that trade but I'd hesitate (a little). Ayton's (lacking) motor gives me some pause. Perhaps it's the Phoenix flu aka Worker Bee Disease. That disease all their prospects seem to get. Everyone except Booker aka Queen B. Apparently everyone in PHX exists just to feed him.

Said he saw UVa and TxTech struggling to score late. Both these guys are supposed lotto picks so he was looking for either to step up but neither could.
"You're both the lottery guys ... do something!" Said Hunter was "invisible" offensively. Basically a good defender but can't score.
At least Culver kinda did hit some shots. Hunter is clearly a system guy on offense. Should be a mid-to-late first.
One thing to consider, we shouldn't have Trae in a position of having to go 1-on-1 to score. His lack of size and raw athleticism is highlighted in that scenario. That means, with this pick, we need someone capable of 'getting his' offensively. That's why, even though I don't like Barrett overall, he could be a good pick for us.
It's also why it could be a good decision to trade this pick for a guy capable of doing that. Something like a Beal or *shudders* Booker (who I actually don't like at all so it'd require us de- and reprogramming him).

How bout Middleton instead
I like Middleton but no way he's worth what it would take to pry him from MIL. At least you know a guy like *shudders* Booker can score at a high level. Middleton disappears a lot offensively. We can draft a guy that can do that and work his way to a borderline all-star after 6-7 years.
