should have never been offered the job in the first place. One look at his Twitter feed and it was obvious.

Come on. Let’s all be honest. Phil as GM would be just too good to pass up. Soooo much entertainment value.

Oh man, following up one Laker legend who doesn't like to work for another would be fan-freaking-tastic.

Magic sounds like he took the Phil Jackson approach to being a GM.

he probably knows free agents are going elsewhere this summer and thought to himself, to hell with it, because he knows he will strike out on all big name free agents LOL

At the end of the day, other stars aren't flocking to play with Lebron.

Magic sucked at his job long before LeBron came to town, but by all means, tell us how it's all lebron's fault.

dude, you never miss a chance to defend LeBron.

Props to Riley for not dealing with it.

I know people have short memories with the NBA, but did this many people really forget that this is totally on-brand for the Lakers, regardless of LeBron being there? LeBron certainly heightened the attention and drama, but this is all Lakers style chaos, LeBron or no LeBron.

That’s fair

A boss is an idiot for believing in her employees? You’re a moron.

Clearly you don’t know what you’re talking about . To say she has faith in him and to see him step down means she never fully spoke with him about his own commitment did she ?

As dysfunctional as things are, this is a positive turn of events for the Lakers. Magic was clearly in over his head and needed to go. He rubs a lot of people the wrong way from what I have heard. I mean the guy was berating the coach for not coaching well like the first month of the season. That's just an astonishing display of unprofessionalism and told me everything i needed to know about him. This at least gets him out of there and spares the franchise the indignity of firing one of the all time greats. Kinda like how he resigned as head coach before they got a chance to fire him.

My guess is that he found out thru the grapevine that he was going to get fired in the off-season so he decided to fire himself first instead....

No major free agent coming to the Lakers... and remember Magic's promise... if he cant land a major free agent in 2019 he will step down..... maybe the space jam 2 news was the indicator

That would be awesome. Keep all the young core and develop them.

Magic knew he was in over his head, and probably had little faith that he could turn things around in the off-season.

The Lakers are going to be balls deep in cap hell when Lebron announces that he no longer has anything to accomplish in the sport and retires.
