So Magic “steps down” and now he can tamper freely behind the scenes?

well we saw leaks about a month back of bron being the one who wanted rondo and lance, bron being the one pushing for ad, magic wanting to shop lebron at the deadline etc.

seems like magic was in damage control before this and doesn't want the blame

i applaud him for not just shutting up and taking it if he doesn't want to do it as well.

I think it's because he can't bring himself to fire someone. He's always been the nice guy. He probably never has had to fire someone in a professional setting. Firing someone is not an easy thing to do. With him knowing how much Jeanie likes Luke, it makes it tougher.

Given the timing that Luke would probably need to go tonight, he probably just couldn't do it...and knew if he couldn't do something he was planning to do, he should step down.

I can’t see Magic not being able to pull the trigger if he legit felt Walton wasn’t the guy. It’s not like Lebron was fighting for Walton to stay and at this point Luke probably wants to leave.

Magic also wouldn’t of ate him out early in the season if Luke was his guy. Nothing points to them having any type of connection other than Jeanie liking both

I'm not saying he wouldn't have thought it was the right move. I'm just saying it is hard to go tell someone else they are fired (barring them just blatantly asking for it). It's one of the least enjoyable things I've ever had to do so I can imagine a fun loving guy like Magic who everyone loves and he likes to be that guy couldn't just actually do it.

Not saying Magic did good or inspired confidence, but he’s taking responsibility for getting the guys LeBron wanted.

It's pretty well documented that Magic believed toughness was the key to winning and not shooting, he gives a thorough reason for building the team.
LeBron trusted Magic and that was pretty foolish considering that he'd never run a team before. Then again, I doubt the move to LA had much to do with championships.

Well, presuming we can reach some sort of buyout agreement or less likely, Balmer lets him go, i think we can.

Didn't Magic basically say if he couldn't get it done he'd resign?

He was unequivocally bad at this. He is doing the franchise a solid.

Magic saw that there was 1 too many cooks in the kitchen and realized he didn't need all of this and bowed out. I can't blame him. Lebron's going to do his thing...

I like Magic as a player a whole lot but him stepping down as President of basketball ops is a blessing. He's the guy who followed-up the Lebron signing with Lance and a washed up Rajon...

Develop. Kyrie already had his skillset when LeBron came back.

When was the last time younger players had significant development beside LeBron?

LOL, the dude has a net worth of over half a billion and literally just up and quit his job because it was too much work.

**** off with feeling bad for Magic Johnson.

STFU with this ****. I said i feel sorry for him, not that he should be vindicated for his decisions and pitied. Jesus, what is wrong with you people?

Lets be real, Russell would never be the player he is right now if he was still a laker, he'd still be the same quasi combo guard whose shooting is only marginally better than the rest of his teammates.

I hear Lavar Ball is looking for a new job.
Brian Geltzeiler: You see Mark Jackson getting a head coaching job as early as next year?

Adrian Wojnarowski: Not if people make calls on him. Not if an organization is doing their homework and knows all the things he brings with him.

Lol - omg did Jeannie really not know he was quitting and he did an impromptu press conference to tell her? No way that’s what really happened - has to be staged. No NBA team is that dysfunctional - just can’t be,,,

Is there a video of his quitting speech?

I honestly thought that insane team he put around LeBron was the low of his tenure. This may be getting into GOAT lows.
