The right decision. He has had a wonderful career and leaves a phenomenal legacy but he was tough to watch this season.

I can't help but feel that the premature sendoff he got from the rest of the league helped contribute to this decision, but anyway yeah, incredible career. He came very close to passing Jordan in scoring.

Not really a surprise.

Would have liked to see him one more year with Porzingis but I guess that isn't going to happen now.
It was disappointing that Dirk was mum about his retirement for the whole season but it felt like he was being pressured a bit to hang it up. On the other hand it's not like Dirk to go on a retirement tour like Wade so whether or not he was planning to retire or not probably would have looked to same.

I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't play in San Antonio if he wants his last game played to be a home game.
I was pissed that the league office scheduled what could possibly be Dirk's last game as a road game. In a weird sort of way though I think Spurs fans, more than any other fan base, knows Dirk the best outside of Dallas. I don't have any doubt they will be respectful whether or not he chooses to play.

Thank god he didn't come back for one more year after all the hoopla the NBA has been giving him. Still think it was weird the league basically decided he was retiring before he did.

I just hope retiring was really his call and that all the fanfare he got this season didn't make him choose to retire before he wanted to.

Sounds like he wanted to come back another season but the NBA has been gently nudging him out basically all year.

Either way good time to hang it up and congrats to Dirk on a great career. I'll never forget his legendary 2011 Finals where he looked simply unstoppable
